Anyone know the general value for an unopened hobby box (with the autos)? These are getting harder and harder to find and I can't find any comparables. Thanks.

The 1999 boxes are about $300-400. The 1998 boxes are 500-600. They’re really just a terrible buy at this point. It’s going to be a loser at such a high rate. Also, some sellers are trying to sell the boxes with no autograph chances for $300. For anyone new that doesn’t know, the ones that advertise sticker cards on the box.. those don’t have autographs. When i was a newb i bought one of those way back in the day and wasted $25.

The price of the box to the hit ratio and then factoring the chances of hitting a card that is greater value of the box must be quite low.
To me your best off searching Ebay or other sellers because from time to time you can get a great buy.... |

Almost all my cases had 4 Autographs per case. There were almost always 2 boxes per case that were "duds". From my memory, I think I only cracked 2 cases that had 5 Autographs. So 4 Autographs per case is more the "norm". So when buying loose boxes of Nitro....remember not all boxes have autographs. I think the pack odds stated 1:48 for autographs with 36 packs per box. |

Where’d you get one from? And what’s the reasoning that you say it’s fake?

I received the McMichael Card from Charles Robinson himself, I doubt he needed the money and was hard up to produce fake McMichael cards lol

i am a print broker and i have done printing for a living.
Just have a look at the card the image of Steve McMichael is not sharp just look at his forehead there is some pitulation on it compared to all the other cards. When u do a print run they are shape this has been done by a printer or photo copier and not a good one |

Like I've stated in the past, the cards were most likely produced on (2) 55-card sheets (Topps standard), and all cards have been accounted for.

Where do the Mongo cards come from? They come from Charles Robinson, who's in the set and worked in WCW as a ref at the time. From what is known, he helped getting some of the cards signed by some of the guys. He has (not a rumor) a bunch of autographs from this set of other wrestlers (Hogan, Jericho, tons of names, even Bulldog) in his collection, that people have been buying from him over this year. I know this for a fact, as i've bought multiple guys myself, and know other collectors who have as well. For the card itself, yes the picture of Mongo on the card looks like sh*t. This is the case for the Bobby Heenan (look it up), Alex Wright as well + others where the picture isn't crisp, and looks pixelated. If you look up the original picture of the Mongo, it is this: ![]() Clearly the picture is super over-exposed. WWE used it on their site as well: https://www.wwe.com/classics/two-spo...s#fid-26040506 Now, why they'd potentially use this picture, who knows... but it gives explanation to why the picture is so bright and ugly. -- Now for the card itself, if you have it in hand, it's BANG ON to others from the set, here's some pics for you to decide for yourself: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ---- From what I figure is that Charles has a bunch of these, potentially the original brick that came from Topps. Why they weren't signed, who knows. Maybe they didn't want to use the card because the picture on it looks so bad. That's my explanation on the card as a whole, sure the card could be fake if you want to say that, but I have a VERY hard time believing that a WCW/WWE referee would go into any lengths to fake a random card for this set that he's had in storage for 20+ years and is selling now as the set has boomed. Lastly, again i'm not expert... but even if you take away this McMichael card, and take away the Booker T with the different logo that everyone screams is fake, there's still over 110 cards in the set. So that theory of 2 sheets of 55 cards being printed is definitely in question: There's 101 pack pulled cards + these unreleased: Horace Hogan LOGO variation Bobby Duncum Jr. Mikey Whipwreck Scott Steiner British Bulldog Booker T Rey Mysterio Jr. Ric Flair - Nitro Hardcore Hak Mike Enos 110 total. Again, i'm NOT an expert on these cards, I just like them like everyone else in the thread. There's so much mystery, but that's my opinion on the Mongo. Thanks!

I have no idea about these cards -- just reading this thread for fun . . .
The scans posted above of the Saturn/Mongo cards are not very high resolution so it is hard to do a good comparison. . . But even with these scans the name on the front of the Mongo card appears noticeably larger than the Saturn card and the copyright lines on the back of the card are noticeably lighter. Maybe there is variation across this set, I don't know. . . |

I'm looking for a Sonny Onoo (signed on the front) if anyone has one available.

Only one Flair, there's been about 10 Enos that have popped up. 4-5 within the last year or so.
