wallstreetbets is a sub reddit forum where posters discuss stock and option trading. Kind of like this thread but unfiltered and raunchy. People aggressively post their trades and how much money was spent and made.

A few years back (during the Alex Smith years) we beat the #@#@#@#@ing brakes off of the Patriots. Brady was so terrible that he was benched. Knee jerk moron reporters asked belechik in the post game presser if he was thinking of starting someone other than Brady the next game….they went on to win the Super Bowl that year.

As awful as it is was yesterday, I’m not too concerned yet. Just having a rough stretch.

Such is the nature of today's sports. If anything, it's gotten worse compared to 2017 (I think that was 2017?)


I don't think the sky is falling, I also don't think the Chiefs problems are an easy fix. More like somewhere in the middle. Love it or hate it, Patty got the credit when they were winning. Now he's getting the heat when they are losing. Unfair? sure, but that's the way it is.


Just like this thread. When his values were skyrocketing people were basking in the $$$$ gains and the trolls were silent. Now he's dipping a little and people are getting testy and the trolls are loving it.


But like PCP said, the long timers here got in early and should do fine.

REPOST - just in case any level-headed member rolls through this thread. The "let's trash Mahomes" crowd and the "Mahomies" crowd can both gain some knowledge from this post. In the end, Mahomes better stop making physically risky plays or he'll be out of the league in 3 years. If anything, that would be my biggest worry if I were sitting on a Mahomes stash.

ANYONE WHO THOUGHT MAHOMES WAS JUST GOING TO WIN 13,14,15 GAMES A YEAR FOR 20 STRAIGHT YEARS WITHOUT ANY POOR TEAM OR INDIVIDUAL SEASONS SHOULD HAVE THEIR HEAD CHECKED.

Also... anyone who thought other players wouldn't challenge Mahomes' throne as the best player in the league were also clueless. Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Peterson, Mahomes all pushed Brady for that elite status even after 5,6, super bowls and 3 MVP's.... it's just the nature of the beast. Guys in the NFL are really good. Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, and Lamar Jackson have all correctly/appropriately won MVP awards within the last 6 seasons..... the level of talent in the league is amazing.

Great players have mediocre seasons, guys have worse teams around them some years vs other years.......... but the common thread to long term sustained success is having great ability and being smart about how you play. (Ie Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers,Montana, Elway)

The only concern (and I do think it's a real concern).... is that things have come so very easy for Mahomes thus far (both due to his own individual talent and talent around him), that he may overlook what it takes to play for a very long time in the NFL. He makes so many athletic plays and takes a lot of chances both with the ball and his body; Mahomes would be served well to take a step back and pay closer attention to protecting himself. A longer career for him means more team success and ultimately a better career. If he doesn't tune it back a little longevity will be a real concern... and for all those banking on 600 td passes and umpteen mvp's and sb's; it could be a huge let down.

Yep. It's easy to see who missed out and is jealous. I bought a house two months ago paid for 100% by Patty. Now I watch him because I love watching him play. I only have a few cards of his left other than a few second year cards at PSA and if they all went to $0, I could not care less. But it is hysterical watching trolls call him "average". No one is that stupid.

Thank you MFaulk. I did not get back into collecting cards until summer 2017 and focused on vintage & baseball. I did not collect football or Bball until Sept 2018, so I appreciate your insight into how Brady and other NFL player cards performed in the past. Thanks for the reality check!

Sadly missed out on the Patty I was trying to get from Goldin last night. That’s what I get for falling asleep after a lot of wine at dinner 😂

As a person who watched Brady every weekend and grew up in the Boston area, I can certainly attest to the fact that not everything was peachy on a weekly basis and it wasn’t more than 5 years ago that it looked like Jimmy G was on the verge of taking over and many people seemingly wanted that too. 10 years ago most people were questioning Brady’s decline when the Jets went on a mini run around 2010. All I know of that Patty hasn’t even entered his prime years yet and he is and has been one of the most impressive QBs I have ever seen play. They need help on defense desperately and I think it’s a coaching problem. Defense helps the offense and visa versa. It’s very tough to have only one side be great while the other side can’t stop anyone.

I’ll be on the lookout for more rare Mahomes and limit my wine intake next time 😁

Neither are true. If the offense was figured out they wouldn't be 2nd in total offense or 5th in scoring (including the 3 burger yesterday). If he was average he wouldn't be top 4 yards, TDs, QBR, etc.

Yes I do! I think any semi-intelligent person can watch the games and realize that he and the whole offense is pressing basically every possession. My guess is they feel a responsibility to score every single possession because the defense has shown they may allow a score every single possession. That pressing has led to some bonehead turnovers (I'm looking at you, INT before the half at WAS) and some unfortunate bounces (I'm looking at you, perfect throws to Hill that he tipped right to the defender for an INT).

This turnover show is temporary. Either the defense will get better or Mahomes will start to take it easy and realize this year isn't it with how bad the defense is.

I remember posting a few weeks ago about how bad the KC defence is and how hard it’s going to be for KC to win games even with Mahomes. Most of the KC fans/Mahomies rambled on about how they were going to win 9 straight and should finish no worse than 12-4. Understand why the trolls are out and why people are enjoying piling on. This defence is bad. Hard to win games and stick to your game plan when you’re always in the hole. The offensive side is playing impatient football and making mistakes because they seem like they are trying to get it back in one play.

I don’t think anyone should be worried long term about Mahomes. This season could be a write off but he’s extremely talented. I’d love to get in on an optic holo rookie if they dip some more. Still kicking myself for passing on a counter offer on comc at the beginning of 2018 haha I wouldn’t kick in the extra $4 on my $16 offer

I was one of those saying 11-6 would be the worst they would end up. The 11-6 counted for 1 dud game and they took it right away with TEN lol.

I still think we'll see some adjustments/improvements and they'll beat NYG and PIT and sweep DEN and LV.

GB, Dal, LA, and CIN all look like losses though without some huge shift.

So does 9-8 get into the playoffs? I'm guessing even with how bad they've looked no one will want to face them in the playoffs even as a 9-8 wild card.

Never hurts taking profit. I know you had turned down some pretty big valuations from the fractional share companies. In your new partnership did you have to take a haircut from previous valuations based on the recent Goldin sale? If you don't feel like disclosing that is fine also, but I was curious. Thanks
