So what did you cross?

Looks like the images didn't come through when I linked to them in my first post. Here they are as attachments. But yes, CxL is right: the only thing that was successfully crossed was my money into PSA's pockets.

It doesn’t feel like this crossover service is being run fairly, or that my cards were objectively graded as they represented would occur. If I cracked these holders and submitted raw, could they honestly tell me with a straight face that these cards (with maybe the lone exception of the Gretzky) wouldn’t have reached the min grades requested? Oh it’s more difficult to review the card in a holder they say? That’s not true, but even if it were sometimes true, it’d only be true where the holder is scratched or otherwise damaged in a way that makes it difficult to assess the condition of the card, which isn’t the case with any of the ones I submitted.
If PSA's not 100% sure its going to cross they wont crack and slab it. And 99% of the time you can't tell through a slab... another example of why crossovers are a total waste of money.

Apart from the minsize issue (I understand it's difficult to measure a card through a thick holder, especially when the card has natural curvature to it like the Jordan 9.5 I submitted), but besides that, why wouldn't they be able to tell if it's going to cross with it in the slab if it's not scratched or otherwise damaged?

You cant see the surface very well.

Plus PSA needs to maintain the “we’re the hardest grading company” so they hardly ever cross anything.

BGS 9 doesn't cross to a PSA 9 but if you cracked it it most likely would. You could then send that new PSA 9 back to Beckett and they wouldn't cross is either. But if you cracked it then it would grade a 9.

The 'we are tougher graders then them' posturing is stupid.

See my results, they will crossover cards from BGS, you just have to be better at self-evaluating and not just trusting the grades on the cards (surface being the only one you need to rely on the BGS sub).

Your pictures aren’t the greatest, at an angle and glare etc, but here’s what I think:
First MJ: N6, no chance obviously
Second MJ: rough edges and 8.5 surface. I think the 9 was generous on the edges given how rough it looks, and 8.5 surface means there was something fairly obvious that BGS saw. Also, there’s no way you’ll ever pull off a crossover with a sub lower than the MG (aside from 10 of course)
I’m not familiar enough with vintage baseball/hockey so I won’t speak to those, but the edges of the 8 look REALLY rough, not sure if it warrants any better than it already got.

Basically, if you have a card that’s perhaps over graded to begin with, just be happy with that. Pressing your luck trying to further upgrade it is fine if you want to try, but shouldn’t be so mad at the process when you can’t pull it off.

Yah, the thing is, none of these cards are overgraded to begin with. There is one tiny place on the edge of the BGS 9 Jordan that has a rough cut from the factory and besides that it's perfect; it's in no way anything less than a PSA 9 under the company's standards that have been in effect until recently when they suddenly and inexplicably changed. The BGS 9.5 Jordan isn't factory short because I've measured it with a micrometer multiple times and every time it's correct. The OPC Gretzky is supposed to have rough cut factory edges like that because the cards were cut from the factory with a wire; if it doesn't have those kind of edges, it means the card is either trimmed or was cut from a sheet by hand.

These crossovers were submitted several months ago. They were sent in the BGS slabs (not cracked).

I have sent a handful of cards that were graded BGS 8 and BGS 8.5 to PSA and they all came back as PSA 9 or PSA 10. I cracked open these cases and sent the cards to PSA as raw.

Not a true crossover; but i resubmitted some card from BGS to BGS to how they would fair. Here's the stats:

12 Cards (10 were ave of 9.25 on subgrades, two were 9.125 originally
- 7 cards stayed at a 9 Mint (58.3%)
- 4 went down to a 8.5 (33.3%)
- 1 went up to a 9.5 (8.3%)

On the 48 subgrades:
- No change on 33 of 48 (69%)
- 13 of 48 went down (27%)
- 2 of 48 went up (8%)

Overall, not trilled with the drops, but getting 69% of the subgrades on point from the previous submission is pretty consistent. It was a few .5 drops in a subgrade that took a 9 to a 8.5. Would have liked to see about half go up and half go down... but i guess there is more room to go down, than up at that point.

I imagine another submission; would result is some/more subsgrades going up rather than down.

Full submission results:

Anyone have any thoughts on Vintage? Beckett and BVG never did qualifiers, so a low centering grade hurt the entire grade. I have a few cards that are BVG 3s, that should get a 5(MC) or 6(MC) from PSA. Should I submit as a crossover or crack and submit? Appreciate any help

Hey guys. Was looking for some opinions on this crossover. It's a Tiger Woods SOTT 2002 Auto.

BGS 9.5 -
Centering - 10
Surface - 10
Corners - 9.5
Edges - 9.5

I thoroughly looked it over and it looks very clean outside of a potential dimple on the back. Not sure if it's on the card or the sleeve. I'll attach a picture. Would BGS grade the surface a 10 with a dimple like this or more likely it's on the sleeve? Assuming it's on card, any chance it PSA 10's? I'm leaning no but I'm no expert.

I personally would not try that card. It looks like it's on the surface. JMO

Should I crossover this to PSA? I feel this surface is not 8.5, dont see any damaged on both side of surface maybe just a little fingerprint?
