Default Best insurance provider used for your cards?

Looking to insure some of my more expensive cards and wondering if any of you recommend specific insurance companies. Thank you!

CIS! https://collectinsure.com/

Do NOT use your homeowners policy. State Farm (and all the others) have zero clue what your collection is worth, why it's worth that, and what it means. That's a disaster just waiting to happen. Pay for actual collectibles insurance thru a collectibles insurance company.

I also use CIS above, hassle free and fair pricing in my opinion so far. Someone recommended on a post last year. My homeowner's policy would not insure collectibles.

I'm glad you asked this question OP, because I've been meaning to get some better insurance for my cards as well. One of the things that was holding me back was having to provide proof of value, but it looks like CIS handles this well, at least once I get everything inventoried correctly. Which, is mostly already done at least for my sealed was and Delgado cards.

Couldn't disagree more.

I send a quarterly spreadsheet update with value fluctuations on my PC and my agents is well aware of how it all works

You just need to sit down with them and take the time to explain it

Your homeowners policy will absolutely cover you if you stay in communication with your agent.

I've had to use it before.

I also use Allstate as the other person posted above. It's very easy with them.

Very good topic. Would any of you mind telling me how much the insurance is?

Exactly. It's all about doing your due diligence. As long as you've got a well organized collection, inventory, and good market valuations you're fine.

https://wax.insure/

This is new(er), but the best in my opinion. They specialize specifically on high end and don't just stop at cards. Watches, collectible cars, etc...wax will take care of it

I use them as well because of the watches and jewelry aspect of it which is another thing I collect.

I didn't know State Farm covered me for $2500 on my homeowners. What I lost was worth far more, but I had no issues collecting the money. Had to submit a list of cards. I think there's a $1000 deductible too, but the loss was enough that it didn't really matter. I also had receipts for almost everything, but I don't recall having to submit any receipts.

This. Very happy with CIS and their price was 1/4 the quote I got for a rider on my homeowners policy.

I have a rider through Chubb and had a claim probably 5-6 years ago and it was very smooth. Part of a larger claim but they were very easy to deal with and gave me zero issues.

I use CIS and have been very happy. Sold a $750 card on ebay that was lost in the mail, had to issue a full refund to the buyer. I opened a claim on the card with CIS, was compensated in full with surprisingly little hassle.

Wow. I'm surprised they covered, for something lost in the mail. Especially when the mail services all ask if you want insurance (which is something I wondered about, when recently sending a lot of high end cards in the mail)

Yeah they cover USPS and Fedex shipments as long as you shipped with signature required. It's nice, I never have to worry about buying the carrier insurance on higher dollar items.

I use Valuable Articles Insurance through Chubb to cover my collectibles, watches, and wine. Fantastic to deal with and fair premiums.

Generally will be around 0.5% of your collection value.

2 large German Sheppards will suffice. Consider it an umbrella policy because nothing under their care will be touched without your approval.

I have insurance via CIS to protect my personal collection and show inventory. Insurance for cards/wax/memorabilia taken to shows is a bit more expensive than insurance for your PC when it stays locked up in your home. I've had no claims with CIS yet but would highly advise to never rely on USPS insurance. I had a ~$5K package shipped to D&A Card World last December that didn't scan for nearly a month. I submitted the insurance claim and they required bank statements proving I bought the items for resell, bank statements proving D&A paid me, invoices, and pictures of everything. D&A and Blowout do not pay until receipt of goods so I was denied the case until the package was finally found weeks later.

Do you need to have Chubb for primary homeowner's insurance to use this?
