Looks Like PSA is doing MUCH MUCH better than BGS.

Just put out their highest all time week, and still will likely add 5-10k more this weekend.

I can't wait for PSA to get to the point where they have $50 grading. It will ease the strain on the other companies as well as leading to cheaper alternative grading and quicker turnaround times.

I think PSA needs to open up quarterly specials instead of grading $25 and below. As soon as they do this it will lead to the biggest avalanche of cards ever submitted to PSA. People have been sitting on cards for the last 10 months to grade. The quarterly specials could get cheap grading for registry collectors and not allow the floodgates to open up all at once.

We (sellers thinking of grading) may be over estimating how many (or little) buyers remain out there stilling throwing money at junk graded cards. That may have been the case 6-12 months ago but no more. People grading junk will waste their money and be stucked with worthless cardboard in plastic cases.

This is a great point. Prices keep getting softer (in aggregate), and we're only about halfway through the backlog. I think it's far from guaranteed that by April we're going to have a legion of submitters lined up to send in thousands of base cards.

There will probably be an initial surge of 1-2m cards, which will take a couple of months to get through, but after that it's going to get interesting.

There’s always a market, the question is what will the margins be? Base rookies will sell, but will they sell at a price point to allow 300% margins like before? Not likely. If grade to sell folks are willing to take a 10-20% profit on base card orders they will keep submitting. If not, much smaller backlog.

Plenty of base will still be worth submitting at $25-35. Plenty of low end inserts and parallels that will still be worth submitting at that price. I have a couple hundred in the pile now, and will probably have a couple hundred more by time the Value levels open. Save for a few Pokemon and Lamelo, everything is from before 2020.

10-20%? My 401K is at 19.9% YTD and it's 100% passive.

If that's what the margins become, then this is a poor mans game

I mean it is a hobby…

That said, I’m talking about 10-20% on low end base cards. High end stuff will always sell in high grade, but low end stuff unless we get back to $10-$15 a card simply won’t be worth sending. That’s what the huge majority of the backlog is.

Company managed 401K plans aren't my forte aside from adjusting risk tolerance values, sounds like they are yours. Congrats

All kidding aside, put all your funds into anything managed by Vanguard if possible. The fees you save over 30+ years will be able to buy you a nice highly graded MJ rookie in retirement.

Express level....

QA2 is the log jam, which makes me feel like they are not really being QA'd at this point but sitting in a stack waiting to be packaged and shipped.

going on one week in QA2 .....previous steps shot through in 5 days all together.

wondering if PSA takes the thanksgiving week off?

If PSA upcharges cards in an order, what step do they usually do that at?

Upper management probably week off but the grunts I'm guessing are working today-Wed as well as night/weekend folks.

I’ve had one card in QA2 for 9 days - glad I’m not the only one!
