Don't expect it would value wise. I suppose the seller just wanted to avoid a mix up.

Funny this should come up because I've actually been thinking about it lately. I have a lot of cases and the vast majority of them have handwritten info on them that indicates what's in the case. This is what I did as standard procedure when I bought them, especially for Topps cases that don't say what's inside. Lately, I've started to wonder if I should stop doing this and have been using Post It notes instead.

I think the odds of handwriting being an issue are pretty minimal now, but if the cases get to be super valuable, you've maybe got some buyers who will balk the way some clowns return PSA cards because there's a scratch on the case.

Not many buyers ( I would think ) are as finicky as me, but if there were 2 identical cases for sale, one with writing and one without, I’d buy the clean case every time - even pay a little more for it. So, if you own a case where someone else wrote on it - no big deal at all. However, if you buy a clean Case, because of buyers like me, I’d suggest the sticky note route, and not be the one who’s adding the writing ..

In my opinion the writting does absolutely nothing to the value. People are buying the case for the contents inside the case. Obviously damage to the case can potentially mean damage to the contents inside which is ultimately what has the value. Writing on the case doesn't do any damage to anything.

For SOME buyers / not all. My previous point/post was that if you buy something sealed with writing already on it ( I bought a high $ box last week with minor writing on the back, but would prefer it not be there ) … that’s ok.

However, if you own a clean ( not altered - including writing ) box or case, and voluntarily write on it - as an inventory / quick indentifier, you could lose some potential buyers who view it as a big deal ( like yours truly ). You would literally have ‘everything to lose, and nothing to gain’

if it’s clean, keep it that way and use a ‘post it’ note!

everything being equal, I'd go no writing, but that's the OCD in me.

Plus there's no danger of mixing up newer cases since the item number or UPC tells you what's inside, as long as you know what those product codes mean. I also don't think buyers claiming the wrong case was shipped, by citing a lack of writing as stupid as it sounds, is a thing to worry about because it's too risky selling wax on ebay anyways.

For the past few weeks I have been thinking about getting into a sealed wax investment. Finally decided and tonight finally made a deal for the #1 box I wanted a 2016 Bowman Chrome vending box. I think 2016 bowman chrome may have one of the most loaded 1st Chromes in recent memory (Tatis Jr, Vladdy Jr, Soto and a bunch of legit Tier 2 guys like Bo, Pete Alonso and even Bregman. Really glad to have found the vending box which has 3 autos. Still surprised that you can find the hobby boxes for relatively decent prices. Box should be here Wednesday will post pics when it arrives

Bo was in draft. So was Alonso and Kyle Lewis. Robles, O’Neill, and Bregman were in vanilla bowman, I believe. The big three still make 2016 BC amazing.

Write on the tape with Sharpie. It easily wipes off with a Magic Eraser and doesn't harm the the cardboard. Post Its will fall off over time.
