Ok so lets set some guardrails on "better".

Draymond is clearly better than anyone else on Denver. That's for sure.

Past that it's definitely debatable.

That's why I want to set a clear stage for better. Are we talking straight analytics, box scores, worth to their team, players in a vacuum?

Barton/Gordon or Wiggins/Poole is really the debate here

You're smart enough to know as well that you are moving the goalposts when it suits you. You don't want to talk about any other metrics/factors for Steph but they are important in the discussion for Jokic.

I'm not arguing for Steph or Jokic but it's ridiculous to say that Steph shouldn't be in the conversation for MVP because of his shooting percentages. Is there a single other person out there who's said or saying that? You can't count k13 because he's just labeled Steph as a chucker with zero context. I think you're on an island population 1 with this argument.
OK then; how about this. In the award's history, only two players have ever won the award having a near career low (or career low) shooting %.

Michael Jordan won in '98 on the 62 win Bulls team (best in NBA)
Russell Westbrook won in '16 averaging a triple double

Telling me that Curry can win the award this year because of his all-around numbers would tell me that something else needs to happen as well. The league award does not reward poor shooting / down years unless there's something else they can point to which will support the vote.

Warriors need excellence. It's the only way on Curry's current trajectory.

I don’t have a dog in this hunt but classifying Curry having a down year is a bit misleading as it is a career year for anyone not named Durant maybe shooting wise. That is really more about how great Curry has been historically and not about him slumping this year.

I would like to reiterate that he's calling it a down year, when if this was brought up 24 hours ago, that argument is completely gone. Curry has been great, but when we're just finishing up the first quarter of the season, one horrendous game can do wonders to your sample.

I’d argue that early on this may be some of Curry’s best work.

He’s having a Top 2-3 season of his up to this point.

Jokic? Meh. Nobody cares. Unfortunately he’s stuck on a meh team.

They need a PF but I'm not too worried about it. That'll probably be the 8th player on the rotation.
I'd love to have DRose back, but I agree there's no way they'd do it. I'm not big on Kemba, even if he came off the bench.

I think the team can get Kemba for Coby and Troy Brown Jr.

Am I high on Kemba? Not really. But I think he's way better than Coby and Ayo right now.

But my comments today are really not about Jokic. They're to comment about how Curry is attached to his team and the success of his team will determine his MVP viability. His individual performance is not all that great compared to just himself over the years. Jokic has no such tether.
I found this interesting.

Jokic - 1st Half of games 14.9pts at 0.667 fg%, 2nd Half 11.3pts at 0.523fg%

He needs to start winning. Jokic's MVP case is tethered to Giannis, Durant and Curry failing to reach 60+ wins

Are Minnesota really 6-1 in their last 7. Towns has got to be one of the best second options in the league. Is Ant Man for real?

I love Wednesdays, always a good basketball night. Bucks feeling themselves as 9pt favorites against the Hornets. A Hornets team who have given up a cool 412pts in their last 3 games.

I agree. I'd be fine with the trade as long as Kemba knew he would be with the second unit and not be taking any of Lavine or Derozans shots.

Bam Adebayo out 4-6 weeks after thumb surgery.

Tough blow for the Heat

The Cavs paint defense is absolutely elite, suffocating you could say.

Without Butler and Bam I don’t see how the Heat score against the Cavs unless Herro and Robinson go nuclear from 3

I hope there is serious consideration for Mobley being All-NBA Defense if he keeps up like this.

Chap and Daeve, please cover your ears.

This is the main issue with Jokic... Nobody likes him. He is a terrific player, but no flash, no pizzazz. He isn't that fun to watch. His highlights have to be captioned and explained. In summary: snooze.

Jokic is my third favorite player to watch after Luka and Trae.

Even with 15? Turnovers the Cavs are still absolutely crushing the heat. Back to back games where the Cavs are playing some of the best defense I’ve ever seen them play.

Just need to play tight in the 4th, keep up the good defense and win this game

First half Mobley: 0 pts (but 4 blocks)

3rd Quarter Mobley: 15 pts.

Don't see that too often.

The man has no hype. Nothing new.

And the Nuggets loss and Jokic's lousy play today ... a direct result of God letting me know he's heard enough about him too.

Message received.

So is it too early to start talking about JB as COTY? Going from the worst team in the league to actually good can’t be just Mobley

Miami minus Buckets and Bam are painful to watch.

Dedmon literally a ded mon on offense.

It should also be said he is middle of the pack when it comes to defensive win share and rating this year. A huge improvement over last year.
