Agreed. Anyone who can’t see that this is purposely done by the manufactures to confuse the buyer is an idiot. This is all about making money and having people buy different products in efforts of obtaining the “true rookie” card.

Investors/collectors in this forum are simply pumping their own investments for their self interest. Some of you missed the boat and now what to change the narrative. Some of you are in the boat and want to protect it.

You believe Topps wanted to cast doubt on an entire year's worth of 2022 Wander RC sets so they could sell some more Bowmans Best on their website? You actually believe that?

Yes as long as it's a part of the base set. The 1990-91 Score Eric Lindros rookie card is a future stars card of a undrafted 17 year old. That card is consider his rookie card by everybody. It's unlicensed by the NHLPA, card is the only Future superstar subset in the entire set but everybody that collects Lindros or hockey cards from that era consider that his rookie card. We don't have a MLBPA license requirement or a requirement to be in a professional jersey, already debuted in the major leagues etc etc. First card in a base set of a major release.

If Topps decided to stick cards for the little league world series kids into the Topps Series 1 base set, those will all be rookie cards. That's the rule, you can like it or not but that's the traditional rule.

2022 will sell regardless. They know that.

By issuing Witt Jrs RC, JRods RC, etc.... it was a final FU to Fantatics on their way out

pretty sure this set was printed before their sale to Fanatics

This set was printed probably 1-2 months ago, way before the deal. Take a while to get the autos, especially on card.

Interesting that Wander is not in the Best of 2021 auto set. And there are no vets included in auto checklist. I know it has been noted that Trout is not in the set since BB reemerged in 2015, but there are no other vets either. Quite unusual.

They 110% if you are correct and they started printing 1-2 months ago knew that Fanatics was at the LEAST interested and if not already accepting they would sell.

Do you realize the work behind getting a deal like that done, the weeks, months and round clock lawyer work and hammering out details.

And even if you're willing to believe that they DID want to play games like that during the negotiation, it isn't like this is an "on our way out the door" situation in the first place. Fanatics doesn't have their own design and manufacturing. They aren't just buying the name and replacing the current Topps operations with their own. Aside from inevitable leadership changes and some "synergy" headcount reduction (as always in an acquisition), you've gotta figure most of the folks currently at Topps will still be at Fanatics-Topps after the deal closes. So how on earth would they stand to gain anything by playing games?

Trout was in ‘18… autos, too, including a dual auto w/Ohtani…
