Default Kawhi Leonard Return

Seems like Kawhi Leonard's ACL rehab is ahead of schedule. He is likely to return this season. If Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are healthy, are the Clippers the favorites in the West? Kawhi has two rings yet has one of the lease collectible markets. Do people think this will change as he remains in his hometown of LA for many more years?

Not even close to the favorites in the West. Maybe 5-8 at best.

As of right now barring any trades or injuries Warriors and Phoenix have to be the favorites to come out of the West even with a returning Kawhi (who will not be 100% right away and will be rusty and time managed)

"Clippers" and "favorites" all in the same sentence...

I don't think they will bring him back if they are hovering around 7-9th place.

If they were sitting top 2-4 then yes that would be a possibility but I think they will go all in next year.

5-8 at best with a healthy Kawhi and PG?

I agree that favorites is a strong word, but I sure would like their chances…

Is always nice to see a player come back from injury, he is one of the top star so is always nice to have him back

Let's start here...

-Even if he comes back it'll be too late to get a top 4 seed, so they'll be running through each round of the playoffs without home court advantage

-Even if he's back, it doesn't mean he's 100% healthy and in post season form from the get go

So no, they don't automatically become the favorite.

Absolutely 5-8 at best. Even if one or both come back I doubt either will be at 100% and even if they were The Clips will be too far back to get above the 5 seed. Oh yeah and there are a few other really really good teams in the West that the Clips aren't close to even with a healthy Kawhi and PG for the full season.

Ok maybe not this season, but do you see him winning a championship with the clippers in the next 3-5 years? He seems determined to win one for his home town. If he is able to for the Clippers, would solidify his legacy as carrying 3 different teams to championships.

Well, shoot, I didn’t realize he was determined.

Easy champs in two years now that I know that.

No unless they can add a few more pieces to the team. As long as the Warriors are healthy and in the West you can forget about it. Plus the West is strong overall anyway so its unlikely that they win a Championship. Plus I feel like Kawhi is just starting on the down swing of his career with all the injuries hes had. I could be totally wrong but I personally just don't see it happening.

He didn't carry the Spurs and wouldn't be carrying the clippers with PG13.

He is not collectable b/c people don't like the way he has handled injuries during his career. His personality also doesn't lend himself to being super popular

Since Kawhi is a Clipper, he is a bust nowadays.

I feel sorry for him. He prooved he is a very good player with a strange character. But he proved, he can win. But since he left San Antonio and then Toronto he is injured nearly all time.

I don’t see how anyone is the favorite other than GS. They were already probably favorites and now have Klay who looks 100% healthy and they’ll get Wiseman soon. And they have the assets to trade for Dame, Simmons or whatever other stars are available at the deadline.

missed over a year on SA and barely played in regular season for TOR so that’s nothing new.

For Canada and a Raptors Fan, his sole Raptors season was pretty epic. only if I am more comfortable to spurge on his cards during that time..
