best answer.

I wonder, does Full Capacity reach Colorblast/Downtown level, if not Kaboom! There must be around 20-30?

It's not just the person who loads up on the most popular stuff, it's the person who has had that stuff for year and is not looking to liquidate any time soon.
I'll have to adjust my searches.

Everything’s been used forever, it’s all in the execution. Ever see a 97 silver embossed refractor in hand? Even something subtle like embossing sets that particular effect apart. Look to the first use of that effect in 96 Finest - bland in comparison.

I don’t understand how people don’t like kabooms in lower end realtail.. let’s be serious they put them in a product like absolute just to make it. However I saw somewhere that the odds of pulling a kaboom out of a blaster is 1/57 blaster boxes.. that’s hard af considering the lack of actual retail product around .. hobby it’s 1 per every case.. harder to hit for sure in retail

I didnt think Cracked Ice were 'mytical' like Prizm Gold or Galactic. Never ear people looking for them or threads about them. Manage to grab 7 at one point from my player. Really like the look of it and it was the only chase card available from my player at that point. I taught it was big in football and didnt cross to basketball.

Good point. Cracked ice were never considered a great parallel. 1996-97 Topps draft redemption had the design. Maybe a few of the Topps Finest refractors. I dont think they used it much or at all in the 2000s.

Panini? Which cracked ice parallels are great? Prizm? Contenders? It wasnt around the first 5 years of Prizm.

It was the 3rd year of Bowman’s Best that had the first chromium cracked ice design aka atomic refractor. Always liked the original atomic design so much more.

I believe the OP is referencing Contenders, where it’s pretty popular and the key parallel.

For me personally as a player collector i was never crazy about spending big money on Galactics. I don't know why but they don't look that much different from the other versions and maybe that is part of it. I get the value and the rarity but I won't spend that kind of money for them.

There's all kinds of cracked ice parallels in all kinds of releases so that isn't that special to me either.

The Mosaic Genesis parallel however just looks really good to me. Something about the color and texture that I love and it's not so rare that the price is out of my reach.

I'm curious if you have compared them in hand. I've heard many people say that they thought they all looked the same before they had one in hand and when they bought one they finally realized what all of the hype was about. I like some of the other parallels a lot, but they aren't anywhere close in hand IMO.

I'm quite sure these Galactic guys got some steals because some of us can't tell the difference (Galactic on the back of the card).

Yeah, the Contenders cracked ice had me more confused than anything I think. Seems like the /25 cracked ice goes for as much as the /10 gold and goes for considerably more than the blue shimmer to /20 and the acetate that is SSP but should be less than /25 as well. I get that just because something is lower number doesn't mean it is automatically better to the hobby, so was curious where that specific parallel was getting so much hype from.

Current day inflated prices just warp things too I think, like to me it isn't close between a $3k blue shimmer Ant vs $9k cracked ice Ant, I will take the blue color match to /20 for 1/3 of the price of the cracked ice to /25 all day, but obviously other people out there value the cracked ice more. Was mainly just curious why the situation is what it is. But enough people answered that I think I get it, mainly about history and consistency.

With Galactics, it's not just a different effect, some of the designs are really 90s esque. Supernovas from 18/19 are amazing. Same with the Shockwaves from last season.

Add in the scarcity. I think a lot of people will kick themselves when things really dry up for them.

I have looked at them in hand and I will say that the second year (2016-17) Revolution base Galactic was specially beautiful. The Icons insert was pretty nice too.
However the 2020-21 Revolution base Galactic really missed the mark for me. The design is way too busy and the effect gets lost.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I personally never got the urge to spend the money needed for an AD or a Curry Galactic thought they look good and will hold value really well.

That's fair. Some years and designs pop more than others. The first three years of base, the 2015 Showstoppers, the 2017 Liftoff/Vortex, and the 2018 Shockwave/Supernova are my personal favorites. I actually like the 2020 base a lot as well.

What is the estimated PR of Galactics? Or does it vary on year.

My best guess based on reading a number of threads/websites attempting to back into the print run and following sales/auctions pretty much daily for the last 4 years:

Base are ~/13 and the rookies are ~/20. Inserts are likely ~/13 as well.

I think the PR is pretty consistent throughout the years.

2016 and 2018 Base Galactics are the most beautiful imo. Just really pops in the correct lighting. Add in the scarcity of galactics ~13 PR, then this is one of Panini's best.

I think the best galactic design is 2019 unparalleled football/baseball. Very little design behind the player and player name/team. It's basically all player and galactic.

Regarding the Galactics being overhyped or not, I think they are great cards personally and understand the appeal. Revolution has some of the nicest parallels imo. The problem is we live in a parallel-glut era, but if I had to bet I do think the Galactics will hold up and keep gaining in stature.

Genesis are incredible and my thoughts are that even if /200 they will continue to hold and increase in value over time just because people will want them.

I think /100 even of quality stuff will become rare again some day.

The Hobby has grown so much for that not to be rare. They are a great chase card for sure.
