In all seriousness who are the Colts realistically down to? Jimmy G or Marcus Mariotta? Winston?? Baker IF Cleveland gets Watson? LV really gonna move off of Carr with no better option?
To me trading for Ryan and restructuring his contract is best case scenario for the Colts at this point. They are about to be the dude standing in the corner at prom with no one to dance with.

Trading Ryan becomes easier after June 1st so it would just be a matter of would HOU be willing to wait until then and not get #8 overall for 23/24/25 1st rounders instead.

There are ways to make it work - it won't be easy nor pretty - and it will not leave space to put anything else on the team this year but we were playing for beyond this year whether the QB was Matt or Deshaun
So far the Falcons have done a good job of clearing space for the future. No clue about Watson or Ryan but they should be ok with cap space in 2024 so hopefully the team does something right by then in the draft. The defense needs a lot of pieces and they need two WRs and a rb. Hope they hit in the draft this year like with Pitts. Would have been a disaster if Pitts ended up being another Bust

See this is kind of my line of thinking - trade for the QB now - suck for 2022, maybe even 2023 (even though the south looks weak in 2023 if Brady finally calls it quits) then hope that Deshaun can recruit for 2024 and you can spend.

The FO also needs to hit on all their left over picks (better than the prior regime did).

For Deshaun if it comes down to Carolina-NO-Atlanta I just do not see Carolina or NO being lightyears better than us on Day 1. So that would then put the homefield / familiarity advantage to us.

SF would be the best win now option for DW but are they really going to move on from Lance? Would Houston want him as part of the return package? If not can they really get what they paid for him out of someone else or do you just cut your losses at that point and take what you can get.

Cleveland is a toss-up from where I stand. Better prepared to win now versus the 3 NFC south teams but just not sure that is where DW wants to go.

Browns release Tretter clearing up cap space for Watson. He’s been a hell of a leader on that OL for the last 4-5 years so taking a chance on the back up Nick Harris. Won’t mean much to non-Browns fans but we’ve not had cap space issues in forever so not used to cuts just to save some space.

Release and cut their weapons and trade the rest of them, plus picks away.

This should be interesting.

If a trade were to happen, I'd imagine it would be a ton of draft picks, maybe a young defensive player or two.

You build around a core of
-Watson
-Chubb
-Hunt
-Amari Cooper
-Njoku
-2 Pro Bowl Olinemen in Teller + Bintonio
-Myles Garrett
-Denzel Ward

That's not a bad core to build around.

I assume if the Falcons are trading for Watson and it is a 3 team deal then Ryan is getting a similar package to the Wentz package likely better so potentially two 1st, then you add in #8 that would be the 3 1st. Watson can choose his destination so that likely limits the package as well. If he says he'll only accept the Falcons then they have to take what the Falcons can give. It also seems that Allen Robinson is going wherever Watson goes from the rumors Will Fuller is also potentially going wherever Deshaun is going.

I wouldn't be in favor of Watson but if the Falcons are trading for him it's because it's where he chose to be ie flexing NTC.

Unfortunately, I agree. However, they had better win the big game within 3 seasons because they are going to become salary cap casualties. As a Steelers fan, it's no fun because there are no big name free agents available to them.

As much as the 15 consecutive not-under .500 seasons are okay, I kind of want that top 10 pick to see what they could do with it.

The rumored asking price is 3 1sts and a couple NFL players. I’m guessing Chubb or Hunt would be an ask, as well as a defensive starter.

Too much for a dude with that baggage.

Injuries and not being named Brandon Marshall while Jay Cutler was in Chicago. He caught some beautiful jump balls. One of the best WRs Bears drafted (a low bar I know).

He looked good helping the Eagles win a Super Bowl, 73 yards and a big TD.

Id do it. 3 picks, JOK, JJJ.

This team had 5 Pro Bowlers last year and didnt make the playoffs. You keep all 5, plus Cooper, plus some other nice players.

Its either that or continue to dwell in quarterback hell

I think ultimately they are going to get him. I just think you are going to see a player from the core get traded.

I understand why teams want him, I just think he’s a high risk player given the extent of what he’s done.

Also I’m still a bit confused as to why Njoku is seen as a core player. He’s seemed incredibly underwhelming as a first round pick.

Supposedly the offer is 3 1sts, Hunt, and Greedy

Maybe a few random picks also

It's simply too much, for me, with his baggage as you stated

If Watson was clean and this was just about him wanting out (and what he gets paid) I'd be all about it

It isn't

Tretter was 100% going to get released even if the Browns won a Super Bowl with Baker last year.

That was a given especially when Conklin agreed to restructure his contract

Final thoughts on Watson...

The Browns are swinging for the fences but I don't think they actually think they are going to get him (which I'll be happy about)

This is Berry telling the fanbase that he was never going to pay Baker long term. He's telling us that even if Baker came back, and had a good year, that he's moved on. He wants his own QB (remember Dorsey drafted Baker). He has no interest in being tied to him long term and having to debate whether to pay him 180 million over 5 years or whatever

He doesn't want a Jared Goff situation if Baker did come back and take the team to the playoffs. That alone won't sell him on what he's seen

He wants to roll with Graps/Mariota/Winston for a year or two, find his own QB, and ride the talent that "stop gap" QB would have around him in the OLine and at RB

Watson was just a way, albeit a bit strange way, to prepare everyone

I hope Watson goes anywhere but Cleveland at this point. Team did Baker so dirty. It would be so Browns to not land Watson and then have to trade Baker.

I agree completely. This was exactly how I felt when the Deshaun to the Steelers rumors came out last week. Too much for a guy with way too much baggage.

If Watson goes to Cleveland Wow!

Watson
Burrows
Jackson
Trubisky

Would match
Mahomes
Herbert
Wilson
Carr

If Webb & Jones were the answer, they wouldn't have just dropped $17MIL bringing Tyrod Taylor in...

JOK is going to be a top 10 LB this year and we've been complaining about not having a solid one for what seems like an eternity. Don't see how it makes sense giving him up.
