In a lineup that doesn't compare to what he will have in Atlanta.

Olson is a career .252/.348/.511, Freeman is .295/.384/.509. Olson is younger, but you Braves fans sure do quickly forget how good Freeman is.

No one is forgetting anything. Two first basemen can be great in their own ways.

You must be referring to social media, because that's not what is happening here

Who is urinating on him? I have only seen 1 or 2 negative comments directed at him from the entire fanbase. Just because some are really excited about the replacement and future of the team does not take away anything from Freeman. I love Freeman and will continue to root for him as an individual in LA.

If I read one more person try to explain that they'd rather have Matt Olson for 7 at 28 or Freddie Freeman for 7 at 31 1/2. There is no question. Freeman at 38 will have better numbers than Olson at 27.

I'm setting a calendar reminder 6 years from now to revisit this

He just wanted to be a Dodger. I’m not going to say his public comments were lip service, but they kind of were. His teammates wanted him in ATL more than he wanted to be.
Spot on.

Thank you Freddie. You are now dead to me until you retire. Go Braves!

As a Mookie super collector, a majority of my time now is spent dealing with these Dodger fans. It is a bit too much at time how much they bang on that drum.

Literally with the state tax difference the Braves' rumored offer wasn't much lower even it was only for 5 years.

This is a matter of Freddie overplaying his hand with the Braves and then the Dodgers bailing him out with a 6 year deal.

The reported first offer from the Braves was 5 years, $135 million, $27 million a year. They raised it to $140 million over 5, $28 million a year.

I guess that 6th year really was the absolute must have, as the 6 years, $162 million is $27 million a year. Which, when taxes are factored in, is a lower value contract.

Well, if you are talking about the internet as a whole, there isn't any subject, person or thing that exists that SOMEONE won't bitch about.

You have to understand that the high tax rates in CA hurt more middle class / upper middle class. Once you have eff you money, it doesn't matter as much.

Absolutely nothing. But he has never once said that. Matter of fact he's said the opposite.

Listen, he lost his mom at a young age. I've seen Olney's documentary on his life. If it doesn't bring you to tears then you don't have a soul. If I were him I 100% would go back to CA to be around my family. I probably would have wanted to do it sooner to be quite honest.

But I just think he went overboard with the continued lip service about being Chipper 2.0 and wearing one jersey. Because he likely knew in his heart that his father and family back in CA probably want to see he's three boys more often. And the guy has told us for years how important his family is to him. True Braves fans are very reasonable, and if this was floated out there at any point over the last year then there's not one person that would give him grief. Matter of fact we would be happy for him, as I am.

So at age 38 you believe Freddie will hit:
40 homers
OPS over .911
OBP over .371
112 RBIs
6 WAR

HOFr Miguel Cabrera is 38, how do his numbers compare to those ^
HOFr Albert Pujols in 2018, how do his numbers compare to those ^
HOFr KGJr in 2008, how do his numbers compare to those ^
