No need
Canada will win the CONCACAF octagonal
Mexico is weak and US is over-rated

Glad to see CONCACAF drew Oceania, aka New Zealand. Still expect the main 3 of Canada usa and Mexico to get through and have Panama face NZ for the chance to play at the WC

IMHO I think Jamaica may come 4th
NZ @ Jamaica would be an intriguing matchup

Japan scored two very late goals to beat Australia and book their place at Qatar. In turn it means that Australia can't qualify automatically and will have to go through two play-offs to qualify, first against another Asian team (likely UAE or Iraq) and then a South American team (Uruguay, Peru, Chile or Colombia).

Uruguay v Peru is the key game in South America tonight, a Uruguay win all but guarantees them to go through automatically, however Peru can jump them with a win.

I chose to watch the Italy-North Macedonia out of the 4 games today. I nailed it.

A draw should be enough. Uruguay plays at Chile and we play against Paraguay at home.

I told people Italy won't even make the world cup after they won the euro.

They laughed....

Too bad Ronaldo gets an easy win now.
Italy so pathetic.

Italy’s last knockout game at a World Cup was the final that they won in 2006. They’ll have waited (at least) 20 years before they play another one.

OUCH

Where's that Juve fan on here? hehehe

Was hoping Sweden would lose too... can't have it all.

If only Turkey would have made their penalty shot..

Talent matters....Italy haven't had a world class striker since Totti retired after the 2006 World Cup either, and it shows.

Italy's talent pipeline has to a large extent dried up....they just aren't producing a lot of good players any more....

Immobile won the european golden boot a year ago…though you wouldn’t know based on how he played today

There isn’t a single player in the NM squad who would make the italy squad - it’s still easily top 10 in the world. They just wasted chance after chance, maybe because they’re not used to playing attacking football. NM basically “Italy’d” them

In reality Immobile only had so many goals because of joke penalty shots that year. The only way Italy can score is penalty shots.

Internationally he's terrible 15 goals in 55 games.

Poland is actually favored over Sweden by early odds.
Surprising.

Not really....

1) Poland is rested
2) Poland is playing at home
3) Poland has the best player (Lewandowski)

I would have been surprised if Poland wasn't slightly favored.

Just hoping ESPN decides to show Poland-Sweden, not Portugal-North Macedonia....

Do you want a world cup without any of the big teams/players?!

Immobile is bang average. Decent scoring record at club level but awful at international. Issue is he has no competition. Italy have always had great strikers but for years they've had nothing. If Immobile was around in the 90s or 00s, he wouldn't be making the squad.

Just specific ones who are too cocky.
Nothing better than Portugal/Italy losing.
