No, the issue is that there is no actual definition for what the award is for.

Giannis is the best player in the league.
Chris Paul/Devin Booker is the best player on the best team.
Jokic is the most important to his team.

What are you supposed to do..?

The fact that Jokic has the above plus incredible, historical numbers for efficiency must settle it for him.

Bottom line here is that all Giannis had to do was win more w/ the better team. (True of Embiid as well).

The fact that Jokic had more wins than both of them is what it is. If NBA stars wanna take ~15 or 20 games off a season and muddle around 50 team wins, then this kind of thing is going to happen.

I know who's looking to play all 82 next year. Dare the books to come out with a four digit number on Jokic for '22 MVP.

Dude's Serbian Brad Garrett minus the acting range. I'll go out on a steep slope and say he may be one of the most forgettable (multiple time) MVP's when we look back in 20 years. Insanely talented, but doesn't have the 'IT' factor outside the basketball realm.

I know its always brought up, but its a CRIME Jordan only won 5 regular season MVP awards. Im sure theres other more recent examples of questionable MVP winners. I wouldnt blame voters if they choose a couple guys over Jokic.

Not saying Jokic doesnt deserve it.

You're gonna be sorry you didn't jump on the train sooner when Budweiser signs him to ride some Clydesdales for the next Super Bowl campaign.

This feels more DRob and maybe Moses Malone than Nash.

If Lil Nas X is straddling him from behind with Old Town Road blaring in the background, then consider me the new superfan.

And that's fair too.

I actually really like Josh Giddey's take on the MVP. "The MVP is the guy that makes the most guys valuable"

But the award shouldn't be about taking it away from the best player due to circumstance.

When LeBron was clearly the best player in the NBA, he was also coasting in the regular season. Giannis isn't.

I called it as similar to Nash also. Who was largely forgettable and isn't even ranked higher than some PG's that have gone on to actually win.

Should be interesting to see how the voting turns out.

I wonder if we need players and coaches involved in the vote.

How Giannis is $8.50 to win makes a mockery of the award.

What train? There's a train every minute. Nobody hates Jokic or is upset they've "missed out". You can still buy Jokic cards at a good price. He's cheap. Just like Nash...

He'll likely be 5x the player Nash was after all is said and done, but unless he somehow manages a PR makeover, it won't make much of a difference in terms of how the general public views him.

^thats you right now. This was Jokic' age 26 season, he's back-to-back MVP, the best-passing big of all-time and on his way to crushing many records and making new ones.

Nash in his age 26 season hadn't made a single all-star team yet.

You are so completely out of your element that you're reaching and embarrassing yourself. Don't worry, maybe simmons will start streaming his physical therapy on twitch so you have something to look forward to.

Lol. Hahahaha. Of course you have to slip Ben Simmons' name in there. What a loser.

When Jokic sniffs a title I'll bow down and say I was wrong.

Jokic has a great story. He's put together an incredible season (I feel like I'm on repeat here, but maybe the tards on this site can't read). But I personally would prefer Giannis to win.

So go and suck on Ray Finkle's balls.

Giannis is the best player in the game right now. But Joker is the MVP and him putting up 2k points, 1k rebounds, and 500 assists puts him over the top. I need to see him take his team to the finals though. Both he and Embiid need to get their teams far this year imo. Neither of them have sniffed a chip. A Joker Vs Embiid finals would be epic and I’m sure either of those guys would trade the mvp hardware for a championship.

Edit: jeez man why does everyone feel the need to get so hateful when debating sports? Lol

How many guys can realistically take it to the Finals as a one man show though? I don’t think there is a player in NBA history that could reach the Finals with Gordon as his top running mate

Read this morning Jokic is the first ever NBA player in a season to get 2000 points, 1000 Rebounds & 500 Assists. Dude has quite the good game. A treat to watch.

Denver has zero chance to get to the finals. A starting backcourt of Austin Rivers and Monte Morris is not worth anything. Uncle Jeff and Will Barton as your sharpshooters ...

They have a chance next season. Not now.

MVP is a.... regular season award so only a 'tard' would have to see playoff success before acknowledging that...

*Against a team in full tank mode.

When Jokic (or even Giannis, who are BOTH ahead of Joel) win are you gonna stop using this silly name for him?

You better hope he gets MVP, because that’s the only thing anyone from the Sixers is winning this year.

He’s got a better chance of winning a title then the other “mvp” 3 members are pushing.
