Default how about Bgs 9 crossover Psa?

if I had 100 Bgs 9 cards, removed their case, and submit to psa for crossover. How many psa10 do you think I can get? Anyone had the experience?

Only try with ones that have 2x 9 and 2x 9.5 subgrades or higher.

Out of 100 cards maybe you’ll get 5

Conversely if you have a 9 that's otherwise 9.5, 9.5, 9.5, but got an 8.5 centering overall BGS 9. You have a decent likelihood to get a PSA 10 as their range is very wide for centering.

That’s not a crossover.

You'll probably have 50 8's, 35 9's and 15 10's

What a waste of money that would be.

You can not make that determination without knowing what the 100 cards are.

Really depends on the subgrades. I remember buying a BGS 8 of a Joe Montana autograph. The seller had really good, clear photos and I took a chance that the spec of debris that lowered the surface grade to '7' would come off. I cracked it, easily wiped of the spec of whatever, re-subbed and it 9.5'd.

If they're 9's because of corners/edges, not worth it. If they're 9's because of centering or possibly surface that may just need a microfiber wipe down, it's definitely possible to get some 10's.

A crossover is when you send the card in the slab.

If you crack and sub them then youre not crossing over. Youre sending in for a new slab.

Cracking BGS9 slabs in an effort to submit them to PSA and get PSA10s out of it? I'm quite confident that I can make a pretty good guess on how that would turn out.

Default how about Bgs 9 crossover Psa?

If you know what you are doing, it’s very easy to get 80-90 of them psa 10s. I shop for as low as bgs 8s to cross. But a random group of 9s, see the percentages mentioned above.

Hasnt anyone told you that grading is a coin flip?

There is not a person on the planet that can predict an outcome.

Everyone will have their own results stories.

Weigh the expense to crack/submit vs. the potential value add, at what you believe the lowest likely outcome will be and then go from there...

Depends on the card.

If it's a 1980 RICKEY HENDERSON Topps #482 Rookie card? None. Like zero.
Probably more 8's Than 9's I bet.

My 1% sample says all of them will gem.

Notes:

All 3 gem'd (first one was the cracked-out 9 with 8.5 surface and three 9.5's adding up to the BGS-9

Maybe 3 if you’re lucky. And I wouldn’t try this on any that have a corners sub-grade of 9 or lower.

I have a 2x 9.5, 2x 9 Booker Orange Wave Prizm I've been considering cracking and sending to PSA. I figure theres a 5-15% chance it gets a 10, which would be a massive upgrade (~$2000). If it gets a PSA 9, which is the most likely, then the value from going to PSA from BGS covers the grading cost.

The only scenario that really worries me is missing something critial that maybe BGS looked over, and I get it back from PSA with an 8 or lower.

after you crack it, make sure you didnt damage it, fix any flaws evident from the sub grades or your eyeballs, then submit it.
