I figured they wouldn’t move a pitcher down for Larnach, it would be Miranda. Now they have a shorter bullpen

In general Miranda needs to go down, he’s just getting crushed by big league pitching. He needs time to make adjustments.

Bring up a 1B then, hopefully Kirilloff is healthy but also Terry has played extremely well at AAA. Would require a 40 man move unfortunately to bring Terry up but Miranda needs a break. Having to keep running him out there is not good for him and his long term out look

Man bases loaded, 0 outs, you’ve gotta score at least 1. It all swung on that Correa at bat, third pitch. It came way inside, and instead of it being a HBP and run scores, it goes off the knob. So then it becomes 1-2 (or at bare minimum 2-1) and he strikes out.

Ugh, and with Smeltzer on the mound instead of the hopefully AL ROY, we could lose another one to the Tigers. That’s pretty rough, be at least we still have a nice lead.

I was hoping to see him walk it off in the bottom of the 9th, but apparently Rocco thought it was a better idea to pinch hit for the only Twins batter that had driven in any runs.

Larnach struggles against lefties, Garlick mashes lefties. Not a bad idea to switch, plus there were no runners on.

Larnach vs. LHP - .391/.462/1.027 (29 PA)
Garlick vs. LHP - .350/.462/1.262 (26 PA)

I wouldn't say there is much of a difference between the two this season. The one thing that drives me crazy with Rocco at times is his insisting to always play these matchups. Statistically this season you have two players who have hit LHP at nearly an identical clip, but one is coming off the bench vs. 2-3 with a crushed HR and a hard hit single. Sorry, I'm sticking with Larnach and taking my chances in this situation.

Either way, frustrating game, one of those could have won and should have won games.
