If I knew the money was coming from an abusive regime with no regard for human rights, and would likely have a long-term impact on the company that I loved, I would turn down the extra money in a heartbeat.

Then when you think we're not talking about people on $20/hour, but people already sitting on tens of millions, it's even more grotesque.

Very well stated. I'm not here to flip your argument, but the same can be said to our own political funding in certain hot spots across the globe. Some may argue one is more extreme than the other: arming guns vs swinging clubs. At the end of the day, its golf, and they are independent contractors.

Didn't mean to get political, but I see it as a great way for the PGA Tour to compensate their players and get creative ie shotgun starts and F1 leaderboard, how many holes remaining were all great touches to the sport.

Doubt it. But I’m sure those that run the majors will allow these guys to play the majors.

Aren't they independent contractors? You see Nascar drivers race in other series, baseball players play in the cuban or mexican league, basketball players play in China and even golfers play in the European or China league. Is it because the top players might make the ratings and attendance go down?

LIV was originally going to play 72 hole tournaments like the PGA does but the sponsors needed those last 18 holes to store the remains of Jamal Khashoggi, the journalist they lured to their consulate in Istanbul under false pretenses for the purposes of murdering and dismembering him due to his criticism of their behavior that was validated beyond the shadow of a doubt specifically by what they did to him personally.

Some people complaining about this or the Saudi regime would let them dismember their uncle for $120 million. The US does business with the Saudi’s, has for a long time, your car likely has their oil in it, but now because golf is involved it’s all gone too far? Crazy.

True, but many of the players have individual sponsorships with various companies, so there will be surely be some maneuvering from some of them on a case-by-case basis.

4.75 million for Charl today.
(4 big ones for the individual win and 750k as part of his four man team's 3 million dollar prize.)

Honestly I don’t get this talk. None of the players that have left have got in the way of Tiger winning majors. Health is the only thing that challenges him. When he’s ON he can beat anyone in the world. Even now.

If he happens to catch Jacks major record, I can hear the excuses now. “Tiger had a easier field to go through since players went to the LIV tour”.

Nope, the PGA tour continues to get more difficult to win on.

More interesting side note, I’m more interested in Tiger just winning one more regular tournament and breaking the tie with Snead. That would put him 10 wins ahead of Jack if anyone is keeping track at home.

Made more money today than the last four years on PGA Tour.

the whole team walked away with one FAT payday

Charl Schwartzel - $4,750,000

Hennie du Plessis - $2,875,000

Branden Grace - $2,025,000

Louis Oosthuizen - $1,266,666

3 days work = $10,916,666

Grace played 27 PGA tournaments in 2020-21 and won $2.22M - one on LIV $2.02M

du Plessis is ranked 134th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 3 days in London changed his life.

What I want to know is did anyone actually turn down 9 figures? They can all act high and mighty, but hell I'll sell out for 100m.

I agree with what Rory as stated. Older players jumping over to get easy money toward the end of their careers kind of makes sense. Especially mid tier Euro players who can cut back travel as well.

It is the younger players just starting out are going to bet bit in the end jumping over Especially if their LIV stats aren't recognized by the majors.

Now Brooks Koepka….

Gotta feel like the PGA Tour couldn’t have possibly played this any worse.

This has vibes of the IRL/CART split, ruined IndyCar racing. The PGA Tour is approaching this the same way the IRL did, trying to be high and mighty. It will not work.

Players care about the 2 M's. Money & Majors.

If players are still able to play the Majors and earn significantly more money... I could see quite a few others jumping ship as well.

Once a few more jump ship and the LIV tour has a good roster, they might have a couple MEGA tournaments where first place pays $10-11M. $11M, $8.5M, $7.25M, $6M, $5M. Could be the top 5 payouts. They go by their own rules.

I know LIV is applying for World Golf Rankings. Other golfers might see a bright future in LIV. Curious to see who else leaves the PGA Tour.
