I will say, if they turn this into a 3-peat and he is "the guy" for the next two titles then I think he will be firmly top 4-5 on the list so its not out of realm of possibility that he ends up on the Mount Rushmore of NBA greats.

Not a hater at all, grew up appreciating his game. His death didn't make him a better player yet it propelled him in the general consensus of his all time ranking.

Outside of people like yourself named Kobefan I would disagree. He was captivating and a great player but he wasn't a clear cut top 10 guy as you're saying.

Shaq was the best player on the team for 3 of his 5 titles. Being the Robin on more championships than Batman, one MVP and volume over efficiency are all reasons he is on the outside looking in.

No, being a Kobe fan makes me somewhat bias and ranks him higher than most, but I believe most nba fans, even those who are not a fan of him would at least place him in latter half of the top 10 list. Also, Kobe wasn’t robin to shaq in those 3 titles, because if you look at their stats, at least 2 of the years, they were really close, and if you still considers him as a sidekick, then really shouldn’t include Kareem in the top 10 list either, since magic was the better player in their dynasty run, which would make Kareem the robin as well.

Kareem is a bad example imo. An extra title, 5 more MVPs, unstoppable sky hook etc.

Kareem was also only less than Magic on some titles not all.

Then winning titles doesn’t mean much to you. If your reason is that it’s a team sport, then getting regular season mvp doesn’t mean much cause it depends on the team success as well. So the kareem’s 5 extra mvp doesn’t mean much as well.

It just seems to me that you think winning the titles doesn't mean much unless the player also wins the finals mvp. If that's the case, Kareem only has 2 finals MVP, so he must be considered as a sidekick in the other 4 titles. If you have Kobe outside of top 10, then Kareem would be in the latter end of the list.
