I can get behind this sentiment, Moss. It is great to open an affordable box of cards... But look at the actual argument - this is good because it has good ROI! Everyone on here is quick to bash Panini and the distros... but how many of you are selling your boxes for $115 or whatever the sell out floor was? None. To those that are ripping, I salute you!

Now everyone is sitting back talking about how great it is and how much more expensive it will be/should be. Even one I didn't quote predicting it will be $300+ next year.

I consider this to be a pump.

I feel like the response to One and One (and possibly Luminance) may have been what got this set greenlit. Heck, they're using the same iconic Dennis Rodman image in Photogenic that they used in One and One.

They could have chosen to go all in on One and One or Luminance as THE photography set, instead they decided to make a new brand with "Photo" in the name and a logo that reminds of taking a picture with a camera.

As I said above, not what I would have done - I'd have made a full Luminance set - but I can't deny that the photography in this set looks like the best I've ever seen from Panini and I love it.

(Agree though with everyone saying the sticker autos look awful. I'm not someone who minds sticker autos as long as they're tastefully done, but yeah, this is tacky and it's too bad...but no set is perfect.)

Fun product w/ under 1000 cases made being liked by people = pump

I don't see boxes getting to $300 for a while on this, a lot of people in outer reaches got their boxes today. I think this lower 200 range will last for quite a while but if I had to choose a box between this or Court Kings for slightly more or Revolution for slightly less its an easy choice.

There will be a lot of people going for the Diamond/Cracked Ice set.

The difference is the market is clearly deciding Photogenic is now worth more than $115 a box. People aren't going to sell it for that when there are a bunch of sales $200ish and most people paid more than $115 a box too. Whereas BO puts up a preorder price, a manipulated price made up from nothing but greed usually by 1 group BO, for something at say $1000 a box. Panini's good friends all follow suit. Doesn't matter to them that if the boxes were fairly auctioned the actual market value would be 50% of that. Because of manipulation your only option is don't buy, buy for around that price, or wait and hope it tanks but then singles are worthless too and it's going to be a bad break either way short or long term. Most likely a bad hold too unless something helps the class take off. If you're someone that needs or really wants product you have no other option because it's this cycle for almost every hobby product that you could purchase more than a box or two of. For awhile you had the option to avoid hobby and instead buy FOTL. You don't have the FOTL option either since August of last year because product is not all fairly auctioned. It's manipulated in one form or another. Flat out pulled or sold through the back door at lower prices. Because I guess the guys with the endless access to hundreds of products at 80% of MSRP the last 2 1/2 years figured making 1.5-10% MSRP on hundreds of products wasn't enough. Gotta add FOTL too or else they aren't happy.

It's the end of June. Photogenic is literally the only hobby product the entire year for basketball or football that sold out at what the market said the value was. Virtually everything else Panini hobby this year came out of the gate either overpriced or severely overpriced thanks to the bums and breakers.

Had Photogenic been a money tree club exclusive, preorder price wouldn't have been $100-$150 a box. It wouldn't have been the current $200-$210 market value. It would have been $350. Meaning everyone besides the 0.0001% lose. That has been the cycle for awhile now. 0.0001% take every last red cent of profit they can and everyone else loses or struggles to break even.

Court Kings, sure. But barely. And CK is like 240 now.

3 rookies vs 4 rookies -> Revolution
3 inserts vs 4 inserts -> Photogenic
1 numbered vs 1 numbered -> Photogenic
2 unnumbered vs 7 unnumbered -> Revolution
1 auto vs 0.5 auto -> Photogenic
Base -> Photogenic

What's the print run of CK vs Photogenic?

It feels like you can get nicer cards in Photogenic as i've watched heaps of CK breaks and they seem very tame

I will put them equal in the autos and if the mem card is added to the insert, I'll take CK.

Still, I think it's clearly better than Revolution and at least comparable to Court Kings (even if it's slightly worse). Prices are reflecting that and I don't think they'll move much.

The CK checklist is huge, with lots and lots of parallels. Silly question by myself...CK will be printed at huge amounts, even with blasters

Single box break and...I hit my first 1/1 ever. Never have hit a super or anything super low numbered, so super hyped about that. Mobley parallel has damage at the bottom unfortunately, but who cares at this point lol

The photography is awesome after seeing the cards in person. That lebron chalk toss is iconic and the vince carter dunk is a great card also.

I rarely really keep cards and hold onto them without selling them on COMC, but these are awesome.

If you just want great photography, no need to buy stuff with basketball players.

If you just want great photography from retired players, no need to buy Panini.

If you want great photography of current players in their NBA uniforms, this set is a great thing.

I posted previously a Giannis Photogenic card that features his defining block on Ayton in the 2021 finals. Panini not making a point to capture these moments and put them in sets was arguably my biggest complaint before. Them stepping up their game is something I only want to applaud.

What sized penny sleeves are people using on these? The fit snuggly in the normal ones, but the 130 pt are obviously too big. Guess there isn't a middle sized sleeve.

Man these cards seem condition sensitive. That is really my only complaint. But I guess that is what is going to happen on a thicker stock paper set.

Yeah, can always cut the corner of the sleeve on a nicer base card to get it in.

And the silver parallels are kinda sneaky. I was sorting back through my base and found a steph curry silver!

lol yeah I actually didn't even know about the silver parallels when I was first opening them so I had to look back through them all and realized the Suggs base I had was silver...nice surprise

I watched a full case break on YouTube and I was surprised to see no dual autos AND no Shoe Game insert, so those are both rarer than just a “case hit.” Even on eBay now, there are only 2 Shoe Game cards sold and just 6 currently listed. To only see 8 of these go public a week after release is crazy. Same with the dual autos - I’m only seeing 1 sold and 7 others currently listed. The rest of the case wasn’t really that great - all the autos were base except for 1 Gold /10 (Mobley), and most of the parallels were /75. There were maybe 2-3 Golds and no 1/1’s.
