Well that's too bad. Shame on Dallas for letting CHI sign him for 2.9 million. They paid Trey Burke more than that. I don't know how they think they're going to get a better PG for less that can actually play meaningful minutes.

I do think they need to pick up a playmaker for fans to feel more optimistic vs last season. Wood is a nice addition but doesn’t quite make up for the Brunson loss (even with more thj). Mavs still need to make a move, imho, or else it’s another year of hoping Luka carries…

Yeah, no Dragic is a bummer. I think they'll be significantly better with rebounding and interior defense next year while scoring will be marginally better with Wood+THJ. To make a leap next year I think they still need a secondary playmaker to run the second unit and to run the team if Luka gets injured for any time - Dragic would've been perfect in that role.

Hopefully they still have something in mind - maybe Sexton? Schroder?

Or they'll make a play at the trade deadline again after seeing what Dinwiddie can do in that role full time.

I don't understand it who knows what they're thinking. Maybe they want to get Hardy in the rotation sooner than later and get as many reps as possible. That would be great if it worked and he's ready but i dunno. We'll see. Maybe they've got something else cooking.

The athletic is reporting that Jason Kidd said that the starting unit will be:

Luka
Dinwiddie
DFS
Bullock
McGee

With Wood as 6th man first off of the bench, likely playing more minutes than McGee.

Thoughts?

Thoughts? Luka deserves better. That starting lineup is average at best, he'll obviously raise their level of play but jeez how about trying to get him some legit running mates.

My question is who are the backup guards, Frank? That's not really inspiring. Who else?

I tried watching the summer league game last night but it was awful and i had to turn it off after a quarter. Hardy is not ready he took a ton of forced shots. He started the game 0-7 and 4-7 from the FT line. They really blew it not signing Dragic for what amounts to peanut salary in the NBA.

The players that really matter,
Christian Wood, JaVale McGee, healthy THJ>Jalen Brunson

So I believe this team is better then last years team. (yes, would have been even better if they could have keep Brunson but he wanted out.)

There is an article out the reason Dragic turned down the Mavs was because they only offered him a cheer leading role basically playing once every 5 games. So the article says. He didn't want that because he said he's not ready to retire so he chose CHI instead. Maybe they should have told him he'll be a starter like McGee. Which McGee may be to start the season but he'll probably still only avg 15 mins a game. They certainly could have used Dragic as the 3rd guard role coming off the bench playing 15-20 mins. He's still got some value. So if the article is true then they really botched pitching him coming to DAL.

You seriously think the team got worse? Id say with the additions they made and getting THJ back they definitely got better. But if you don't mind me asking what did you have to give for the Blue Phoenix? Graded or raw?

They still have nowhere near the fire power most of the top 6-8 teams have. They've all got a combination of like 3-4 current or former all-stars, all-def NBA, or all-nba players, sixth man award winners. Dallas has got 1 guy with any of those achievements and that's it.

I'm hopeful for Dallas but history has proven you need at least 2-3 or more of those type of players on every championship winning team. Just too much to expect them to win 4 series in a row in the playoffs out gunned by that much firepower.
