Which I've explained to each buyer whos contacted, including him. And also explaining I would need them to come to my home state and set up the wire transfer with my bank manager. Card is in safety deposit box at that bank etc.

Which was agreed to by buyer of course. He's even asked me multiple times to send best airport for him to fly into. As recently as like 3-4 weeks ago.

In that last message asking me about which airport, he assured me he will be here and send a deposit before his dates. and was looking at two dates either July 11th or August 3rd. Which I did agree to at the time. So I gotta give him until then to be fair.
I really appreciate everyones responses. I guess i just needed to vent for now while still waiting. Really hoping I update the thread soon with positive news!
If this guy really wanted the card he could get on a plane fly in buy the card and fly out in all of half a day. If he has $300K he can spend on a card he can afford a chartered flight and to take half a day to day out of his schedule. Seems this guy is jerking you around.

If that's the case, you shouldn't have started the thread. Also if he wanted the card he'd have it by now if he's flying all over to different shows. Can't wait for the update that he's such a great guy after buying it 6 months later.

Again the thread wasn't to call anyone out yet as i said in OP.

I truly just wanted to get an idea how long we all think is too long on a HIGH END deal. And how others would feel in this situation etc.

Glad to know my thoughts and feeling are similar to everyones on here.

He does own a grading card company, so one would assume credibility would matter. Which was really the biggest reason I chose to make a deal with him over other buyers in Feb.

But ill def update the thread when I have update. Thanks again for the replies

I think by saying he owns a grading company you already called him out

I agree but I wouldn't be flying to the buyer without at least a 5-10% nonrefundable deposit beforehand.

To be fair, there isn't much in Vermont. I would find it difficult to get up there for one buy and try to coordinate it with something going on in MA or maybeeee CT. Just depends what part of VT.

This is incredible. 4+ months for $300K and the buyer is still considered "reputable?" Nope, nuh uh.

Sadly, it is incredible. I would never treat a deal like this, or treat another person like this.

It's turned into the most frustrating deal I've ever been invovled in, in 20+ years.

5 months now, and still waiting for the deposit and him to book fliight.

On may 29th told me he would book flight within 1 week.

I do have somewhat more of an update.

He finally responded via text today- (from June 6th to today July 15th, I kept asking if he booked flight like he said would on May 29th).

Long story short, no flight ever got booked. But hes going to and I quote , "have more clarity on things over the next two weeks" and "will circle back with me". He "Just can't commit to any travel plans until he gets this stuff lined out"

Then tells me if I need the money so bad, I should send to PWCC auction and quote "He will win it"

so doesn't have to travel to VT like we agreed to in Februrary.

I almost dont even have words at this point. I am going to give him the few weeks since I said I would give until Aug 3rd, and I am a man of my word. But not holding my breath by any means.

You dont have any word to keep when you've been talking with someone who is dealing with you in bad faith.

If this wasn't a transaction i'd swear it sounds like someone stuck in an abusive relationship. The guy your working with is a tool.

Serious people don’t talk like this when dealing with large sums of money like you’re talking about.

It's been almost a month since you created the thread. I know you want the sale to go through, but it's not happening. The guy has strung you along for 5 months and broken every promise he made you.

Tell the guy to get bent, post his name, and sell the card to someone else.

Is this for some Razor Metal autos and some Pro Set Santa Clsus cards?

I don't blame you for keeping at this as this is a nice chunk of cash on line. I do think 2 weeks will pass and there will be yet another excuse to delay.

This is not meant as an attack, but a question for you, and for you to ask yourself:

"Why are you showing loyalty and consideration to a person who shows you none?"

There are other fish (whales) in the sea. A card of that size will have multiple people drooling.

Call any of the major auction houses; Goldin, Heritage, etc etc and tell them what you have, and ask if they'll give you a 0 % fee for listing with them. I *guarantee* they'll do it.

This person is stringing you along, and then gave you the classic abusive-partner line that he doesn't need you. He can win any auction you enter. He's trying to psyche you out and control you.

Put the card up. Get it out of your hands, put this mess behind you.

And don't accept any calls, texts, email or smoke signals from this non-serious person.

I have no idea who that buyer is, as others seem to, but he can Cram it. With walnuts.

Is it even worth that much now?

Sounds like he’s waiting for it to drop.
