Guys stops with the hate on the picture of the 101. Nobody knew in 1984 that’s right his “rookie” year what he was going to become thus a bland or stale picture but that’s what makes it even more innocent and genuine. Fleer had the luxury of a 3 year sample size to decide yep this guy is special let’s have a picture of him flying through the air and dunking. Stop with the nonsense takes. Just liquidate your collection and become a player on the 101 before they become impossible to acquire.

How do you feel about the aesthetics of the 57 Fleer border?

Blue, red, and yellow? No thanks.

See, it's completely subjective.

You believe Jokic is the GOAT but, aesthetically (and athletically), most people view his game as slow and boring. But that's your opinion and it's fine.

The fact is, the 57 Fleer just got hammered in PWCC's auction, and it's for a reason. Now that the largest grader (by far) is going to authenticate and grade the 101, his real rookie has now been legitimized for the masses.

BGS 8.5 at PWCC Premier did $40.800 last night

BGS 8 at PWCC Premier did $27,600 last night. The BGS 8 at Golden with better subs did nearly $35,000 last week.

All prices above include buyer premiums.

green?

I'm fine with the 86F design, it's the skimpy color toning I don't care for. The 87 MJ sticker, meanwhile, gets it right.

good lord, you don't get to tell me what I believe and get it wrong.

I believe MJ is the GOAT, mkay?

Apparently it's a BBIQ test and many fail. Slow? Maybe you're saying what other people believe and getting it wrong.

Boring or not, if it gets you points/wins more than the other players, then it's doing something right. Low-IQ folks apparently find Tim Duncan's game boring. The solution there would be to raise their IQ (which probably can be done).

or, the reason could be a general decline in the card market.

You sure seem to presume a lot based on so little.

ok, pumper

The poor picture quality is just a thing with the Star Co. cards generally, with some notable exceptions like those I've mentioned.

Nobody could tell in '84 what a big deal MJ might become?

Haha. I agree. I actually LOVE the picture on this card - it's the only card that existed before MJ was really THAT dude. The lengths that people will go to discredit this card is hilarious to me. Is it envy, fomo, something else...? Dunno, but I'm here for the hot takes Blowout!

Don’t forget the other interesting 1984 Jordans in the Star set, for the budget-limited collector. I’m interested to see how those (the #195 and #288) will ultimately price out compared to a Fleer #57 of the same PSA grade.

I am surprised the Jordan sticker is getting no mention. That is the true grail.

Agree, unlike the #101, which is an amazing card, given its roller coaster ride since 1989, but its priced out right now. However the 1984-85 #195 and #288 may still have some room to appreciate. That #288 photo is awesome! These are both expensive, but not $20K yet.

Jordan with the early uni with short shorts... toughest of the 1984-85s to find. Thanks for posting that pic.

Imagine the spike that Stockton and Barkley rookies would see if collectors moved away from this trash.

Ha ha, didn't realize how much leg was actually showing until your shorts comment.

A PSA 8 ended at 67K just now at Goldin, down from 115K in August. It took only two months!
