Default 2021 NT Basketball RPA Question...

Probably a silly question but help me out: with all the parallels (below) in the RPA's is it better to have the true RPA /99 or a more scarce #/25 Pink or something?

Rookie Patch Autographs Set Checklist
50 cards.
PARALLEL CARDS: NBA 75th #/75 or less, Bronze #/49 or less (No Garuba*), Pink #/25 or less (No Garuba*), Gold FOTL #/24, Gold #/10, Purple FOTL #/8, Emerald #/5, Blue FOTL #/3

I would agree here as well.

Unless you are getting something numbered to 10 or less, anything from 25-99 is equivalent to me and I would lean to gettting the 99 at a lower price if able.

Did not realize they made a pink version. Panini has diluted this product so much. I would avoid altogether.

From my crash work, the NT patch is the lamest design ever, up to and including the photo selected. I love the select gold checkerboard aesthetic and flawless is not shabby. But the Origins booklets seem to take the prize in terms of rarity and size of fanatics bling, which TPC (true patch clktrs) argue is what a patch should be about.

And my actual favorite is... noir.

Yeah like a few have said the /99 is the true RPA but gold /10 and emerald /5 are the other biggie's. The /49 and pink /25 are pretty much just the horizontals from the previous years covered up to look less lame imo

In the past the /75 & /49 were horizontal and worth only a fraction, and the /25 pink is new this year. That means there are 150 more vertical RPA this year compared to prior year.

Since this is new it's hard to judge, but I wouldn't expect a premium on the /75 or /49. On the /25, I think some people would pay a premium (based on football sales) and some would rather have the /99.

I'd go Base /99 since it's the true rookie.

After that, if you really want to spend, anything /10 or less is a good bet.

So what is differentiation in value, /5, /10, and 99? Is the /99 actually valued higher, being "true?"

Also what is the jersey number multiplier on a RPA /99?

Dear God.

They've turned the premier hobby staple into Hoops Premium.

That upcoming padparadscha RWB snakeskin RPA /8 gonna hit different.

Probably the Gold/10....I'm pretty sure they've had that parallel the longest. Otherwise, the /99. I'd only select /5 Emerald if it had an insane patch, like the center of a logo.

The emeralds sell for double what the gold's sell for in NT.

From an investment standpoint, even better reason to go with a gold/10 then. What’s the percentage difference between the emerald/5 and blue/3? Is it 40%? I would imagine that once Panini goes away, the legacy color parallels will be the go-to similar to Topps Chrome in baseball.

What’s the origin of the “true” vertical NT RPA? First year NT was horizontal so just curious.

I've never heard of pink /25 before. Sounds like something they'd put in Spectra. Is the auto pink or is it the box foil? I thought they used to have a bronze /25 or a silver /25 maybe that was football.

I am thinking of this in terms of the flux equinox gold blue and black variations only, I believe. Or is there a /25 to this seminal sticker auto?

If anyone could pick up the crash 1/1 for me (prolly offer $3k) I would trade a higher valued Nemisth true RPA. Or I could offer two blues.

I had the same questions. I think Panini is trying to flip the script on these /49 /75 cards by turning them vertical. Some of these have beautiful patches, better looking than the /99 True RPA’s. FOTL probably a safe bet to hold up well if there’s any question. And how about the /75 red anniversary? Will these be coveted as a 1 year only red foil vertical?

This is absolutely true. Panini is putting patches in cards that are not associated with the player. We as a hobby still call out patch fakers who change out a patch for a better patch. Panini is just opening doing it and people are still pushing them as real cards of that player.

Stop wasting your money buying the 2021 NT Patch rookies.

One of the things I hate most is the trimming/altering in the hobby.

But you're right...if Panini is just putting gibberish on the back of their cards now (material not associated with any player, game, or even), then if someone is switching out a napkin from Dick's for a patch from Dick's...what's the difference? Panini is welcoming ppl to do this.

Very sad.

Buy Flawless.

I'm not so sure Flawless will even be player worn for 2021.
For football both Flawless and Emininence are no longer player worn in 2021.

From the looks of it Player Worn patches may be a thing of the past. Which might mean pre-pandemic RPAs get a premium vs post pandemic RPAs.
