Default How Does The Soto Trade Impact The Prospects?

With the move to Wash, how do we think that impacts Abrams, Woods, Hassell, Gore?

I can see is being good for Abrams, as he was not going to see much PT over Tatis and Cronenworth here soon. But, Hassell and Woods probably would’ve loved being the 6-8 hitters surrounded by Tatis, Soto, and Machado.

Thoughts?

It doesn’t - they are who they are, and are going to do what they do

I think SD- Wash is a lateral move or slight downgrade overall to their card status.
The bigger issue is that the BC cards now are all with the wrong team.
Id assume Abrams and Gore get RCs in Update that will now also be wrong team cards too.
Hassell and Woods RCs('23 or '24?) will at least have them pictured as Nats I assume as they haven't debuted yet.

Has that shown to negatively impact prices? Obviously, Didn’t matter for Tatis, but he’s the top of the top of the hyper modern era.

Abrams has never showed any offensive prowess in any level above rookie ball so I'm surprised he's worth anything unless now people buy for defense(LOL)

Not in itself but I think when given the option of BC w wrong team and RC correct team that more of the $ flows to the RCs.
Won’t matter for Gore and Abrams as all their key early cards(BC and RC logo stuff) will be Padres cards.

Good insight. Well crap, I have a bunch of Hassell, Woods, and Acosta BCAs 😬

I think this is a really good move for CJ Abrams. He’ll get consistent playing time with a little less pressure.

I don’t think it matters, especially to Nats fans. Probably matters to some franchises where the name on the front of the jersey matters more (Yankees, Red Sox, cubs, etc)

I have a bunch of hassell and still think he’s going to be a very good prospect/player. Same w Wood

He hit just fine in AAA and is hitting like .270 in his second stint in the majors. He hasn't walked for dick but he's also like 500 PAs into his pro career and only 21. Maybe he's doomed in the hobby but not being an actually productive major leaguer. If anything, he's shown pretty good ability to adapt to his level seeing how rushed he's been.

Yah. The way the Padres were handling him was borderline neglectful. He really wasn't developed enough to be a platoon player. Just let him develop if you aren't going to get him regular PAs

Sounds like Robles 2.0.

However irrational it may be, I tend to stay away from buying prospects that have been traded, primarily due to having a previous team uniform etc.

Good I’d be buying wood if he goes to the 40-50 range.

Here's what I found tonight going thru my collection. It gets moved to my National player collection which just means moved to a new box. Pretty poor and thought I had an auto of Abrams. I don't.

My team ratings would suggest a 30-40% boost going from SD to Washington, with a similar decline going the other way. Win/loss record offsets some of that right now (or all or more than all). I'm not sure how much W/L record affects prospects, but being in the better market should be beneficial in the long run.

Abrams has looked like a good hitter at ever level except the 139 PA at the MLB level. His prices have fallen enough that if he can get on the Xander/Lindor/Correa/Seager/Bichette path there will be some nice gains to be made.
