Why are we comparing the NBA to the NFL? Draymond crossed a line and no one is actually surprised which says more about Draymond. And whoever leaked the tape is unemployable across the league

I think Khal's reasoning is from the context of the video. Portis, Garrett, Donald, etc., all of those examples don't rise to the level of this. This would not be classified as assault, this is battery. At no point in their interaction is Poole a willing participant in a fight, nor was there a rising level of physicality as in most NFL examples. Poole pushed Green out of physical space (he actually pushes himself back off of Green) and gets cold-cocked. It's hard for me to see Green coming back from this, it really is. I'm not put-off by a lot in sports, but this is next level. If you can't understand the difference in all of the scenarios which are supposedly used to show equivalence vs. the Green/Poole episode, I'm not sure what to say. This is more of a Kermit Washington/Tomjanovich situation than any of the above. He was suspended for 26 games, and that was in 1977, not 2022.

I fully expect Green to be suspended for half of a year, at least, and possibly never return to the Warriors. I'm not saying what should happen, but this is what will most likely be the end result.

I agree with all of this.

Most of the examples posted are just scuffles. Whatever, happens in every sport. The Geno Smith example is a great one. The guy who hit him was cut immediately. If Ty Jerome punched Poole in the face like that, he’d be cut before he walked off the court. But this is Draymond, and it’s just supposed to be okay. The guy has made a career of normalizing his bad behavior that isn’t tolerated from anyone else in the league. And the Warriors were just going to sweep this under the rug. Oh, it wasn’t so bad. Poole came back to practice!

Hopefully the league takes action because you know the Warriors won’t.

It doesn't matter what if anything Poole was saying. You don't punch a teammate full force in the face - it could literally end his career or worse. Defending Green here in any way is pathetic.

I keep trying to give that guy the benefit of the doubt over the years but at a certain point he needs to be gone. If Udoka gets suspended for a year for a consensual relationship I think Draymond should be suspended at least a year for this

You have no idea what you're talking about. Draymond absolutely shouldn't have thrown that punch but Poole pushed him and they were face to face, most people wouldn't even consider it a sucker punch. Myles Garrett swinging a helmet full strength at a guy's head (who was being restrained) is significantly worse. For a few days after the incident, people were legitimately discussing if he would get jail time for assault with a deadly weapon. One incident also happened on national TV with millions of people watching, while the other happened in a private team practice.

Didn't Bob Myers already say he doesn't expect Draymond to miss any games?? I'd be totally shocked if it's more than a few games for this. I would imagine this goes on more than what gets reported on. The video hurts him, but I don't see a huge suspension coming. It was 2 teammates in practice... Not Draymond sucker punching a lady at a grocery store.

Yes he did, they said it will be handled internally and the punishment (if any) will be minimal. Just ignore the lunatics in here saying he will get suspended for the entire season (hard to type that without laughing).

I have no idea what I'm talking about? You essentially said (bolded) Poole started the altercation. No one sees it that way. No one.

Additionally, most folks see that as a sucker punch. There are always outliers - I guess you're the one in this situation.
