Draymond punching him is absolutely battery but not necessarily assault.

Can have battery but not assault if Poole didn't see the punch coming.

Not aggravated assault because he didn't have a weapon.

lol yeah it actually never happens. the closest thing we've seen to anyone just getting clocked without trying to really fight in recent years is ray rice and his fiance. chris paul and rondo threw down but again... they were clearly fighting. then came the move that was most despised from the entire ordeal... the Ingram clock. it was such a rare disgusting sight because it's rarely seen to try to get a lick in like that.

portis and mirotic were fighting with all reports being that mirotic was continually charging portis. lopez and portis were fighting...

but Poole was just being super passive and then confronted he pushes Green and Green throws an absolutely vicious blow to someone who doesn't even have their hands up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see damage to Pooles face, and he probably stays out of the media for the next week or so including missing Sundays game.

-Draymond's punch

This is exactly who Draymond has always been, and the league/management/the media/teammates/fans have played a huge role in what led to this. We have all enabled Draymond, as we have somehow continually attempted to contextualize all of his thuggish behavior, mischaracterizing it as "heart" or "passion" or "fire." You can have all of those things without engaging in conduct that is disgusting, let alone against the rules or even possibly unlawful.

And in this thread it's still happening, with so many of us trying to compare apples and oranges as we point to other incidents while deciding what the ultimate outcome should be...so many suggesting that Draymond should again be given a slap on the wrist. Are you saying you that's what should happen or what will happen? If anything, I sincerely hope it's the latter.

What’s interesting to me is that these guys just won the chip and there is ZERO chill at a preseason practice. (Practice?!?)

What Draymond did is indefensible and he should be punished…but the intensity level of this team is at 110 all the time. Maybe that’s part of the reason why they’re a dynasty?

Im really looking forward to the 10-part documentary years from now.
