I haven't gotten into the hockey segment of the hobby so don't have any pickups or comments on Kaprizov cards to share, but did jut want to add a few things to this as a Wild fan-

It's certainly true the Wild are in salary cap hell right now, and they'll be there for a few more seasons until the bulk of Parise/Suter's contracts come off the books. But honestly they've positioned themselves very well to be competitive throughout that span. It's tricky because it basically rules out signing any top or even mid tier FA, and requires us to get production out of guys on their rookie deals, but so far it's looking good. And I love that right when Parise/Suter do come off the books is when we'd want to get Rossi/Boldy signed to their next deals, that timing should work out nicely

The Wild will have essentially the same roster as last year minus Fiala, who is definitely leaves a good chunk of goals needing to be replaced. I don't want to downplay that loss because it's definitely notable, but Fiala was also incredibly streaky and too often a liability defensively, so I am hopeful the Wild will be able to be more or less the same without him

The X factors are going to be those rookie deal guys I mentioned earlier. Boldy was up last year and played extremely well. Rossi is joining him this year and may have an even higher ceiling. A lot hinges on those two playing well from the get go. The rest of the team looks pretty solid. Kappy, of course, and his chemistry with Zuccarello has been incredible to watch, the GREEF line continues to be one of the better 2nd lines in the league, and the team has a few good defensive pairings as well. Overall it should be a good team again, but we'll have to see exactly how good

Specifically on Kappy, I'm personally not sure if I see 50 goals in him or not - His playmaking ability and insane skating/puck control skill has always been obvious, but it has seemed a little more slanted to seeing others up for goals rather than scoring himself. Last year no doubt impressed me with getting to 47, and it's perfectly reasonable to think he could find a couple more here and there and cross that 50 goal mark. But he doesn't seem like a pure goal scorer to me, a la Ovi for example. That's not a knock on him at all, he's clearly a big playmaker and the best player on the Wild. I just think he's a little more rounded than pure goal scorer

Overall as a team though, I'm really looking forward to another season and think the Wild should have another playoff appearance in them. I can't say if they are a true Cup contender yet, but I think we're starting with a solid baseline

I have to disagree, I think he's a goalscorer before anything else. Still a great passer, but goal scoring is where he makes his biggest impact. For whatever reason people started running with Artemi Panarin as a player comp so everyone assumed when he came into the league he was a pass-first type player, but that has not been the case. 2020-21 he was 8th in goals, 82nd in assists. 2021-22 he was 5th in goals, 13th in assists.

He was #9 in the NHL in shots on goal last year, so it's not like it was a flukey 47 goals. Historically the guys who get the most shots on goal are gonna be the premier goal scorers in the league, so if he keeps that part of his game up I don't see why he won't remain an elite goal scorer.

Past four seasons 82 game goal scoring pace:
2021-22: 47.6
2020-21: 40.3
2019-20 (KHL): 47.5
2018-19 (KHL): 43.2

Yes and 4 goals and 4 assist for the year. He is ahead of his 2021-22 year in that he did not have but 1 goal I. His first 8 games last year.

Kaprizov needed someone to step it up once Fiala departed and Zuc has done that. They have a great chemistry on the ice and off the ice it has been reported. They both have a chance to pad those stats over the next few games.

Those two have had incredible chemistry since Kappy joined the team. For some reason they just clicked instantly and have made a lot of really good things happen, it's really fun to watch

The rainbows are very tough with centering and the soft surface of these cards. I am so glad the 2 I sent in early, rainbow color wheels got 10’s. Focus on the OPC platinum that are e-pack released.

Appreciate it bro. I did a lot of research on Kirill before I began to invest in him and I liked his game so much, he became a longer hold/PC. I enjoy the hobby side of things and the money side is secondary. I have purchased some big Kirill cards by selling off other stuff. Buy what you like and the hobby is a lot more fun.

Kaprizov is going to need to win a Hart Trophy or Stanley Cup or people who bought in solely as an investment are going to lose a lot of money. Winning one or both of those is the only way he can maintain these super high prices. And the Wild as a team look horrible so it's unlikely either of those are happening this year. Curious to see if people start selling off more of his stuff if the Wild are truly as bad as they look.

When you buy what you like, even as an investment, it is much easier to deal with the lows. I am not selling anything and I have purchased with repurposed dollars from selling slow inventory.

How many Mcdavid 9.5 BGS graded though? The epack -> comc -> BGS path hasn't existed with Kaprizov.

I have been wondering that as well and why I am happy to have the 3 on card autos I have. He had some issues this off season so signing might not be on his radar now. I think Connor McMichael might not be signing either.

His autos are live in 20-21 SPA, which came out not so long ago. I really hope they are live for The Cup!
