Funny, every time I go to one of the local Targets here in MD they have virtually ZERO baseball cards, but fair amounts of other sports cards. Last night there were only a few Panini Diamond Kings packs and zilch else.

Fanatics dropped $5 in fancash in accounts. Expires tonight.

The nba and nhl online stores have free shipping offers today as well. I know there are panini boxes in the nba store

Back in 2018 we all just walked past 2018 Topps Update, Prizm, Optic, etc. So, what's sitting on the shelves right now that in four years you'll regret not having picked up?

My money's on all this Optic and Prizm BK sitting around. Maybe 2022 Topps Update.

The other gamble would be buying nothing on the theory that nothing currently being sold today will appreciate in value. Certainly that could happen, but I find it much more unlikely than not, especially when pretty good stuff can be found readily are MSRP right now.

I see your point but print runs now are absurd compared to just four years ago.

Plus, Covid-era money is leaving too.

Finding 2022 Topps update on the shelves is pretty fun, does remind me of 2018 topps update opening. Even 2019 Topps update was getting harder to find then compared to how easy the 2022 update is easy to find now.

Lots of small money cards with a shot at the SP at an "ok" price i guess is a WIN.

I am hoping the 2022 TCU will also be like 2018 hunting, maybe a smaller checklist? Might be asking to much.

The blowout community absolutely DID NOT walk past 18 update. We ripped the hell out of it. The ‘what’s a good price for 2018 Topps update thread ‘ was at the top of the page for 2 years

What we 100% did walk past was all football product. Football did a complete 180

Everybody walked passed 2018 Update when it was full price, hobby was available for around $40 until early 2019. Prices shot up sometime around spring training and just kept going up but it definitely sat on the shelf and eventually made it to the clearance bins.

Correct. There was a reason '18 Update retail was showing up in Walmarts with Clearance stickers on fat packs, hangers, blasters in 2019. It's because it didn't move in volume at release. Heck, I remember passing on $65 hobby boxes at the LCS in early 2019. Whoops. But yeah, the chase was fun once '18 update later caught fire and the hunt took us to places like Party City and Big Lots for fat packs and such.

Nothing moved in volume in 2018. I don't know why people keep comparing today to 4 years ago. The hobby isn't the same. The economy isn't the same. The product's aren't the same. The quantity available isn't the same. There is nothing comparable.

I know its human nature to want to compare, but those using that as an example as to what to do or what not to do today are really grasping. We are living in a completely different world than 2018. In more ways than one.

Can go way back to 2011/12 how many people walked by the 2011 Update value boxes and even when they dropped to 9.98 people still walked past now they are what $1000+

18-19 Prizm basketball was at Walmarts until October or September of 2019. Eventually it got bought or sent back.

As for football, even 2019 Prizm FB retail was available well into April 2020.

Not here. A full loadout similar to last week.

20 Mega Prizm, 8 boxes of Prizm cellos, Tons of Score, Prestige FB and 25 Optic Blasters.

Left it all. Target can eat it like the flippers or people throwing money away with no chance at real hits due to odds.

I was looking for Topps Update at more reasonable pricing.

My local walmart had archives blasters today...@27.99 (no thanks), along with everything else that has been stocked for weeks (Optic/Prizm/Illusions basketball, chrome bb, etc). No 2022 update on the shelf though, I was hoping to grab some hangers.

Edit - I know this is the target thread, but sharing for the discussion of shelves having retail stock again.

Multiple targets over the past 5 days for various reasons and 3 of them had 50+ optic bb blasters sitting. Crazy times.

Update has already come and gone at my local Target and Walmarts. I dont typically dabble too much in retail outside of Prizm and Bowman Megas, but I do typically try and pick up a few Topps flagship Blasters and Hanger packs.

I got about 8 update blasters this week in total and when I went back to both this morning, all Update had been cleared out.

We shall see if they have a restock this week, but looking online hobby and retail both seem to be moving quite quickly, so dont see pricing getting cut or restocking happening any time soon
