Again, last year cases typically had only 1. If you were opening a case, it wasn't for the autos (same for me today).

I managed to hit black & white diamonds of Vaquero, Zavala and so many more of the big names. Also Black white diamond/199 RC of Wander, O'Neil Cruz, Royce Lewis and more (Ohtani, etc). Yellow/75 of Weimer and Eddinson Paulino. Purple/250 of Simon Juan, Purple Shimmer Jonathan Mejia, Speckle/299 Zavala, Orange/25 Manny Machado, the green Kwan and also a pink/299 Steven Kwan, purple Jeremy Pena/250, Dominguez/299, pink Jose Miranda and there were plenty more. It just kept going and going.

Sold out pretty quickly. I bought a few earlier (thanks for posting it) and just went back for more but I was too late.

Ripped 2 boxes of lite today. Very bad QC. Lots of scratches, dimples and even wrinkled surfaces. My fave pulls, a /199 Tork RC and a Yasser Mercedes 1st b&w mini diamonds, both had scratches that were deep.

Take the most (IMO)visually pleasing and traditionally sought after variation out of the rotation in favor of more wavey gravy mojo nonsense?

I opened a case today. I’ve never seen the QC so bad. ~75% of the base had chips, dings, roller marks. Any 499 parallel was in bad shape. The color autos were easily in the best shape. Very disappointed in the QC. It’s a shame because I really dig the checklist. I think HTA boxes are the only way to go as the autos that I have seen are in decent shape.

Noob question here- can someone explain the difference/rationale between the Chrome cards that were in regular Bowman from earlier this year and the Bowman Chrome that just released?

Rationale:
My guess is that the chrome prospects were originally just an insert in Bowman and then they decided to make the "chrome" cards into their own set (Bowman Chrome)

Difference:
No distinctions between the actual design of the card. Main difference between 2022 Bowman vs 2022 Bowman Chrome is they have a different checklist of chrome prospects. In the event the prospect has base in both sets, then only the first set released has the "1st" distinction.

Example:

2020 Bowman: Jasson Dominguez #BCP-8 = "1st" Bowman
2020 Bowman Chrome: Jasson Dominguez #BCP-243 = Not "1st" Bowman

The prospects are indeed technically an insert set (but only since 2006 when the RC shield was introduced).

As far as the prospects are concerned, Bowman Chrome is a continuation of Bowman. It's like a Series 2 -- the numbering continues. (1-150 for Bowman, 150-250 for BC). Vets/RC only have the Chrome in BC, but those aren't the main draw obviously.

As far as repeating players from the same year's Bowman release, it happens often. They like to repeat guys who are top prospects at the time of release, which makes sense. This year they did repeat a BUNCH of guys from 2022 Bowman who aren't that.

For the first time, I'm going to have to talk to Topps about quality control. This time I just have no choice.

I opened a case of Lite. Thankfully the vast majority of the parallels and ALL of the black & white parallels are fine. But 80% of the base cards, 25% of the inserts and a good handful of numbered parallels - including a Steven Kwan Green/99 and Eddinson Paulino Yellow/75 - are damaged. That's a 2k case.

I know a bunch of you have gone through this with them and it's probably been articulated left and right, but....any idea what I can expect here? I've got all the boxes and the case (cardboard box) they came in and obviously all damaged cards.

I'd be interested on how you make out. I have 4 boxes that I will be gifted for the holidays and I'd hate to open up damaged cards and not have anything done about it. It's completely on Topps. $250-$325 per box is friggin expensive! Topps should answere for that. Good luck

I am going to send in my parallels that are dinged up for replacement. Not worth it on the base chrome, but I’m not happy with it.

Back with 2020 Bowman Draft, I sent in about 35 blue parallels that were miscut/damaged. I received two autos and about 25 blue refractors in replacement. Well worth it! Maybe I just got lucky but it’s definitely worth the risk.

Hobby Legends pulled the Veras super auto on YouTube shortly after release in a pick your player 20 case break.

Opened one hobby box. Incredible color. Jake Fox gold auto, Sammy Zavala Red,
Willy Vasquez gold, Yeisson Morobel base auto and pink shimmer. Probably one of the best hobby boxes ive ever opened.
