Default Ouch! Bowman chrome quality control...

Friend is a breaker and hit this, there are scratches all over it. Looks like it was drug behind a truck. Hope topps takes care of the customer!

I've hit 3 nice orange non autos in breaks (Trout, Oscar Colas, and Wander) - they all have horrendous scratching on them. Scratching so bad that it seems like it would be intentional.

Really frustrating - and inexcusable IMO.

Several red/5's I have seen were dinged up or creased.

Happy to have to stuck to my guns and avoided this release. Probably won't buy another new release BC single until issues are fixed.

I’m really baffled why people keep on buying. Very expensive, terrible odds, and quality that you can’t reliably grade.

The grading premium got rolled into the wax cost and hasn’t come out. Even though it’s evaporated.

tell him not to send it to Topps for a replacement. In the past, they have replaced low numbered color autos with base autos of the same player. !!!!

poor condition or not, that's a huge hit. top prospect

also, i dont see any scratches in the photo. ?

the picture the owner showed on twitter was of print lines not scratches. it’s a bummer but I’ve got psa 9’s on cards with 2-3 vertical print lines identical to what his has. It would very likely grade 8 at least based on the image he showed.

I had a lot of cards that were in terrible shape. Luckily the best card out of what I opened was in good shape but in general - terrible terrible QC.

I ordered four boxes directly from Topps and I would say at least 25 had a weird kind of gloss spray on them (see the Witt). I tried to wipe it off with microfiber cloth (I know) and it just doesn't come off.

I also had a number of parallels that literally looked like they were dragged on concrete.

Understanding the Topps roulette of damaged cards I usually just chalk it up as a L and move on to the next card but with these boxes there were too many to ignore. I took pictures and pulled together an actual list of damaged cards that I said wouldn't get an 8. The next day I went back through the cards and pulled out the ones that I thought I may be a little over reaching with.

I took photos, pulled together a spreadsheet and called Topps.... haha.. was told to send in the pictures and they would look at it. I sent in a PDF with the pictures and the spreadsheet.

After a few days I got a typical response that if they feel the cards would grade an 8 or better they will not replace. It can take 6-8 months to process. Send in with proof of purchase etc. etc.

Like I said - I normally let a lot of things slide but with those cards im willing to see what they can come up with.

I rarely give Panini props but at least with them you know they received the card(s) and its being processed. With Topps it feels like sending to the North Pole hoping to get a response.

I’m saying it now. There needs to be regulation in this hobby. It’s becoming garbage and you should care. From the gambling breaking to the obvious terrible quality not to mention the outbid control increase in prices.

Not possible.

Have to vote with your wallet. Degenerates with the bloody, dried up nose and spread out bungholes keep feeding the beast. Until they get clean, problems will persist.

What sort of regulation are you proposing? Statutory or self-regulatory? What would the powers of the regulator be?

[I used to be a regulator and can't think of any form of regulation for the Hobby that would do more harm than good].

Chrome quality from both Panini and Topps has gotten so bad over the last couple years. You cant grade out anything. Ive gone to almost exclusively paper releases because of this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering what I was missing. Nothing about the photo says "drug behind a truck"

But hey you can get it graded at SGC for $9! That deal is going to get awkward when nothing is gemming.

Oh, much easier to see when the glare spot is exactly where the scratches are...

I have seen multiple cases opened across the 3 versions and qc is bad on most of the cards from scratches to peeling to those fingernail looking imprints on surfaces. The weird part was some colors were all good across the products so must be something with processing on certain cards plus when making sets noticed that several players all of their cards were messed up on base.
