I hear ya beavers, I had the same with MJ and have a love/hate with Lebron.

It is the same when people die, you are like wow, they were amazing, everybody's favorite because you don't want to talk bad to someone who has left the game.

We want to seem like we were their best friend and we will suffer to make ourselves feel important or get people to feel sorry for us.

Or when your future kids say wow I wish I got to see Lebron play. We will all say, yeah he was really great, to make it seem like we lived a heck of a life and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Most of you like LeBron. You’re trying to convince those who don’t that we’re going to be more fond of him in the future? Good luck with that. I’ll be just as happy to talk down on him in 20 years as I am today.
I can clearly see where you're coming from. My despise for the 90's Pistons was totally on-court and because they were "opposed" to 2 of my main guys, BUT your dislike goes beyond the on-court and includes much of the off-court stuff. I feel that way with say, Kyrie Irving, He could win multiple more titles knowing he has talent etc, and I wouldn't like or buy 1 of his cards as I think he's a loon. Not really defending some of his craziness, but Lebron has such a more wide-ranging reach that fringe people, not you, will start to feel that nostalgia and appreciation that happens so often after a player hangs it up.

Yep, it does happen. If you would have told my younger self that I would actually have some Autos of I. Thomas and B.Laimbeer and appreciate them I would have said you were crazy. haha.

From personal experience, I Hated the Bad Boy Pistons, totally despised them during their heyday. Now I find myself appreciating what they did and who they were. Now I have an, albeit a small. collection of I. Thomas and B.Laimbeer autos, as kind of an appreciative nod and almost anti-hero/villain side of 2 of my main PC guys in Jordan and Bird.
I appreciate that Lebron has one of the greatest toolboxes in the history of the NBA, along with Shaq. I appreciate that he can ball with guys half his age.

But when it comes down to purchasing a card of Bron, there are still many awesome Jordans, Kobes, Currys, Magics, Birds and Lukas that I would rather spend money on first before buying a Bron, especially at his prices.

Despite the current market correction and people hating him for his on court performance and off court antics over the past 10 years, the current market cap of all Lebron cards is more than any other basketball player's cards, including Michael Jordan if I am not wrong. Blowout is just a microcosm of the hobby! You can dig at old threads on Lebron card values from 5-10 years ago and see that lot of people were saying his hobby interest and card prices will go down. Unless Lebron does something really stupid like Kobe or Tiger and the whole market crashes, I expect his hobby interest to be strong going forward. When it is all said and done, his longevity, overall accomplishments and charity work will overshadow his immature tweets and flops. As far as the people who are going to hate him for his flops, immature tweets, hypocrisy, they will continue to hate him and there is nothing wrong about it. I consider them as a minor part of the hobby who do not have much impact on the overall market cap of his cards as we have seen over the past 10 years.

EDIT: To those saying that his hobby interest has seen the peak-

Lebron James polled best in the 18 to 29 age group in the GOAT debate even though Jordan was the winner with Lebron as #2. Economists predict that Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012) will be the “most disruptive generation ever” and will see their income surpass that of millennials by 2031. “The Great Wealth Transfer,” from older cohorts will also add to Gen Z’s consumer power.

How selfish is the "I'll retire after Bronny and I spend a season on the same team"? On the surface...its sweet and beautiful. But when you dive into it...it's really self serving & narcissistic. How about what's best for your son and his future?

Giannis' brother stats this year:

TOTAL MINUTES PLAYED: 15.7

field goals: 3-14, FG % 21.4, PTS: 0.5

Year #5 on the bench.

Hmmmmmm. Bucks have him on the bench. Why?

But LBJ wants to play with his son so now it's scrutinized.

He's missed one of the past 5 games and they have been against lesser teams, but Lakers on a 5-0 run starting with Lebron's 47 point game. 37/8/7 tonight on a back to back for the Lakers against a pretty good Kings team this year on 3 days rest. MJ had these runs when he was on the Wizards too at the same age. Fun to see.

Lebron is actually 17th in the league this year in VORP (right behind Markkanen and ahead of Siakam & Booker) and 15th in BPM. His 28.9 PPG this season is good for 8th in the league with a higher eFG% than 3 of the 7 guys ahead of him and only Luka with more assists than him among the 7 players in PPG. Long way of saying, he's putting up another amazing season and doing it very efficiently. Not bad so far for his 20th season.

Nobody is saying anything bad about his on court stuff, it is this MeBron (I like this one) stuff that is annoying especially when he tries to make it seem sometimes that he is not like that. Like he is a humble dude. Just kind of douchey lol, thats all.

Don't get me wrong, he is amazing. I love watching him explode down the lane and cram it whenever he wants too. Absolutely incredible and I remember buying his McDonalds allstar game jersey in 2003. Nobody was more hyped about him than me in hs. Wish I would have kept going with cards! I'd be laughin now.

Lebron always leads the league in bragging about how humble he is.
Personally, I am just not that into people who tattoo "The Chosen One" on their backs and call themselves "King." That's just me. I have no doubt plenty of people will buy his cards in the future (although I wonder if card nostalgia will actually be a thing for current Gen Z-ers in a digital world) and it doesn't bother me. I'd prefer to put my money and interest elsewhere because I don't care if they go up or down, I just want what I want and I don't want Lebron.
