The question from here if he can take the next step and be a consistent winner. He'll get his chance here starting next week.

I don't think a single QB has had to deal with more surrounding injuries this year than Herbert. The Chargers have been a mess in the medical department.

Deshaun is done in the hobby. Heading into his 6th year after a front page scandal suspension and looked like a deer in the headlights. Also Browns (as many people including myself were alluding to when predicting how his return would fare).

For as dismal as Wilson's season has been, he'll be more decorated and sniffing the Hall well before Watson will after their careers both conclude. And I'd probably guess at this point people may be paying more for Watson stuff.

Welcome to the prospecting.

Default Victims.....

The real victims are those who enter online breaks and those who continually burn real money opening wax. Easy one.

I don’t know that he will be fine. However I do know hope springs eternal every off-season with Browns fans and we will be one step further away from the media reminding everyone how much of a predator Watson was.

So if you buy right there should still be decent money to be made as preseason hype hits.

Here's just a graph from Terapeak about the Quantity sold when you look up the word "Baker Mayfield Contenders". There's clearly a significant volume increase. during that time. It's actually almost as high as before the season started. Now again this is quantity but common sense should tell you with that spike that people who bought that card right before he was released made money.

All you are showing is volume of sales. Not proof of profit. From what I see, it looks like people trying to dump cards they were holding. After better (not good) games. In an attempt to get out from under them.

For all we know, these were bought during the hype. And sellers were looking for any good game to get out from under them, and cut their losses.

Add prices and there and see how the Chart looks. FWIW, the CardLadder Index had him at a value of 130 last June, down to 8 now. So overall, the market would have to go up over 15x to break even from the summer.

His last Contenders Rookie Ticket sold for $61.
Exactly. None of this shows profit on sales. Just how many were sold during certain periods. It isnt a stock market ticker of value.

RE: Watson

Vick did a 2 year fed bid and came back without missing a step, basically returning to form as a top 5 nfl QB. But his kards never really recovered.

Deshaun's stuff could/should absolutely experience a small preseason hype uptick, but that's more a function of the normal hobby dynamics regarding household names across all 4 sports...not a unique reflection of Watson as a player or his particular circumstances.

Dudes that FOMO'd in on the Browns signing news pump could soon be inching towards Katelyn McClure God Bless schemes.

Vick had a great season in 2010, but that was it. It's funny how Fields is pretty much Michael Vick, crappy passing QB honestly but fantastic running ability.

Watson will only recover value wise if he does extraordinary and Browns succeed. Basically, he needs to be a top 5 QB and Browns in the playoffs. I just don't see that.

There are definite parallels. Though Vick arguably had the strongest arm in the league in his prime. Problem was it was a bit *too* strong and lacked finesse.
