Yeah, I see they didn't bother to update that part, just dropped the price.

What is the purpose of sticking "Wander Franco Raymond Variation" and "RC" in the title of the card, if it's not to increase its perceived value? And if it increases its perceived value, what does that imply about people's perceptions of the card if they otherwise thought of it primarily as a mascot card (that was kind of fun because Wander is wearing it)?
I would. If it were my card it would say "2022 Topps Series 2 Wander Franco / Raymond Variation SSP Rays RC #215". About as accurate as one can get.

Wander Franco / Raymond Variation is both specific and accurate to me, whether or not it increases the value or changes perception is irrelevant on how I see the fact that the card does have Wander Franco's body and Raymond's head on it.

The RC on the other hand is debatable, IMO. I could argue either way and personally would not include.

It's not a rookie card.

I don't care. 99% of 2022 Wander Franco cards will have "RC" or "Rookie" in the title and a rookie logo so it is what it is. It is his "rookie logo" year if you call it that so as a business I would list every 2022 card as a rookie.

Yeah, but you're taking the intelligent approach, not the "Blowout Message Boards Approach" which has the responses "it's not a Wander card" and "it's not a Wander RC" being repeated over and over.

Got it. You would purposefully misrepresent the card in the title.

Again, take a look at the three Mr. Met ultra SPs that have sold. You don't need the player name in the title. Hell, you can even list the wrong player. People who are wanting to buy this card know what it is and they are going to do the best thing to filter out other cards. And how do you do that? You search for the mascot name.

You're in the minority with this take. Most people won't care about what people think about the Bowman's Best card, they'll go with the 2022 cards as his RC, but that's a battle for another post.

Listing it as a Wander variation is the best way to get the most money out of this card. People who don't know it exists will now join those who already know about it and are looking for it.

It's all a moot point anyway if the seller still has it listed for $50k, because NO ONE is paying that money for it.

Reread what I wrote about the Mr. Met card. The only one that listed Alonso in the title sold for less than the two that didn't list him. So, no, I don't agree that you need to list his name in the title to get the most money out of it. Plus it's not an auction, and he seems to be in no rush to sell based off price. So getting as many eyes on it as quick as possible doesn't seem to be a priority

I understand that Wander is a bigger draw than Alonso, but this is an oddity card. It's not a card that is going to draw a lot of random interest. I doubt many of those watching this are actually interested in the card, they're more likely interested in watching how far it drops before it sells, if it sells. And it's got another $25k or more to drop, based on the bidding of the other one.

And just because people don't care doesn't mean it's not misrepresenting the card

How much did the 3 Mr. Met cards go for?

In the long run I think those will hold more value than a card depicting Raymond.

$950 BIN 6/20 (Alonso not mentioned in title)
$800 BIN 6/23 (listed Walker as the player)
$840 auction 6/24

is your whole schtick to just speak literally about everything? no one is going to pay thousands for a card without knowing what it is. if someone buys this card for thousands it isn't going to be because someone claimed it was a "true rookie."

however, someone willing to pay thousands may stumble upon a card like this (having not previously known about it) because they search "wander rc"... you're telling me you honestly would not put that in the title? if so, congrats to you for your adherence to your strict moral code.

i have bought cards before that i accidentally discovered from my search terms and i don't blame the seller one bit for my purchase. keyword spamming sucks if it's not at all related (e.g. "non auto") but it can certainly serve a purpose for a buyer trying to find the type of things they want. not everything has to be literal.

edit: and i'll add this so you can more easily understand since this is using a prior example of yours... if i'm intentionally searching for "jordan background" or "jordan cameo" my results would be ZERO if everyone adhered to your oddly strict standards of listing practices. but hate to break it to you...lots of people collect those kinds of cards, so it's helpful to people trying to find them. same applies here.

yeah and it hasn't shown up on terapeak yet, so that would indicate it hasn't been paid for yet (although a recent sale of mine hasn't shown up yet either even though it's been paid for so idk)

^^^ Isn’t this the exact type of thing that the authenticity guaranty is supposed to flush out?

If someone lists a non auto as a “non auto” just to spam “auto” into the title to get looks - I’m with you on this because the seller’s listing (as “non auto) is literally true; however, the wander mascot card is a gray area. If the listing says “wander” without the noting that it’s just his body on the card, I wouldn’t fault the authenticator for striking the sale.

But where do you draw the line? For example, Panini MLB cards don't say the team name and have no team logo... if someone listed the team name on the card's listing, would that get struck down by eBay's guarantee? I doubt it. And yes, it would seem common sense would draw the line, but you'd think the same for a card bearing Wander's photoshopped body.

edit: also, as someone pointed out (maybe in this thread I forget), the guarantee is more to protect themselves against their own buyer guarantees... so if it's authenticated by a 3rd party the buyer can no longer say "i think it's fake" and send it back like they could before which costs ebay money

Do you think the buyer is so stupid to look at the picture of the face on the body and think it's Wander's head? And they should strike the sale for that? lol. Give me a break. You're really reaching on this one.

Love that one. Carlos and another prospect were switched in the set.

Carlos lived at the same place we did when I was in KC, and if memory serves he wouldn’t sign the one with his name on it because it wasn’t him.
