Funny, my Economy order popped yesterday but my Standard order is still in Grading/Quality Control.

I sent both orders in the same box lol.

Think I can get a refund on the Standard order since it theoretically should've taken 30% less time?

This order timeline is also a bit weird:
Picked up on 1/13
Received on 1/19 (what happened on 1/17 and 1/18?)
Economy popped 1/25
Still waiting on Standard

Effective July 5, 2022 (before everything went on sale for 20% off for several months):

Express - Max Value $10,000 - $70 per card ($56 with the sale, now $75)
Standard - Max Value $1,000 - $35 per card ($28 with the sale, now $20)
Economy - Max Value $500 - $25 per card ($20 with the sale, now $15)
Bulk - Max Value $250 - $15 per card ($12 with the sale, now $12)

I just had a 2 day turn around with them too. In fact, they have another batch now I was hoping I heard something today, but even tomorrow would be great. How many did you send? I only send 3-5 at a time.
I know some people send dozens

Granted, the PSA 10 would be way more valuable than a CSG 9.5 or 10 but PSA is so inconsistent I have no idea what they'd get. I'm pretty sure these will all be 9s or higher with CSG. Surface/Centering great - maybe minor issues on edge or a corner here and there.
The verdict:

I sent in 6 cards.

10s: 1
9.5s: 2
9s: 3

Was hoping for another 10 but overall I'll take 50% 9.5+.

The 10?

That's WILD! They just took the full 7 days on my standard order lol.

I've got a bulk almost ready - nice to hear I should get them back within 2 weeks door-to-door.

I sent a handful of PC to my bulk sub guy. He unfortunately had to tell me CSG only accepts in quantities of 25 cards at a time so he has to hold them until he accumulates 25 total from his circle. Without going verbatim, in his group, CSG isn't being used as much as the other grading companies he deals with.

What that means for some people is great turnaround. What that means for others is not a lot of people are subbing bulk. Could be nothing, could just be people using the higher tiered services. There's also the pessimistic outlook that they're not receiving many cards at all (or in comparison to the other companies).

Just offering my experience and thought process of the last 24 hours.

I am pulling for them, but if your hypotheses is supported by the gemrate data. Although, the stuff this past week has been very erratic so impossible to really tell until the full month's data comes in. CSG's seem to be taking in .6 - 2.4K sports cards per day. SGC does 2.5 - 4K cards which includes non sports and TCG, they do next to nothing TCG (maybe more Pokemon now) and a small chunk of Star Wars that would also fall under the CGC banner. Probably less than 1000 combined. That is why CSG is keeping the cheaper submission price.
They are still new and maybe it is still just a matter of getting cards into the hands of buyers. Personally, I think they are still feeling the effects of the label change - both from a group that wants subs and those early adopters who feel cheated because now their cards aren't really sought after in the old flips. Also, I think their grading reputation isn't the best - from early on it was hammering surface on modern chrome, BVG style grading on vintage, and changing the 9.5s to 10s. I know that corrected the surface stuff on modern and eased up a bit, but I am not convinced the BVG style grading isn't still present.
How many of the early adopters were put off with those early growing pains and haven't come back? We all (or at least most) would agree if they didn't do the label change they would likely be in even worse shape now. I still have a fear that they are just the defacto junk wax, junk modern grader of choice. "Good" cards will go to PSA to make money, Vintage and a chunk of passionate collectors will still use SGC.
Beckett is the wild card, I think if they get aggressive and get back into good graces, they will most likely take market share away from CSG before it hurts SGC. I also think if SGC gets price parity with CSG, CSG will have a hard time gaining any ground on them. So they could get squeezed a bit if they aren't careful.

I am hoarding cards and waiting for a $8 to $10 bulk cost. C'mon CSG, hurry up with this.

The death of CSG.

With SGC making moves with low fees , Ultra modern , Pokemon and FAST Turnaround.

If fees are same $10-12, which company would you choose?

PSA
.
BGS
SGC
.
.
.
The rest GMA, HGA, TAG, DSG, AGS , CSG all are the same to me. All for low end. if fees drop under $10

I'm probably going to take an intentional loss on old flip CSG cards at the next show I work. Just to move them. A lot of them are/were PC that weren't worth an extra $5 for the new flip. I figure the smaller shows would be a great opportunity to sell cheap and maybe inspire younger people to get into the hobby while also clearing space on my end. I have enough other show inventory to make it worth the trips. But yeah, trying to get in the head space of 8.5 and 9s going to the Pokemon kids and turn them into sport fans.

This is how it really works.

PWCC. Those ffukups changed again. I might pull my higher end out now.

" $5,000, and the Hammer price would be $5,000/1.20 = $4166.67, and seller payout is $4166.67*1.06 = $4416.67 with the bonus commission to the seller equaling 6% for a sale between $1000-$5000."
Ooo, I'll have to check it out, I've wanted to do one on the PWCC fee structure, especially with the grading deals they have

Just got this bad boy back today.....happy with the grade...think it's on point. This card is crisp....pack fresh....just a bit off center L/R.

Submitted 34 cards and grades were in the ballpark I expected (from 6.5 to 10), with the exception of two. There was a slightly generously graded '68 Bench rookie. It does have perfect centering, clean surface, good color/registration, but a pretty badly dinged corner and another ding to one of the edges....I think with SGC, it probably would have gotten a 5.5 at best (got a 6 with CSG). And then there was a pretty grossly under-graded Eddie Murray rookie. L/R centering was pretty lousy (80-20) but the card was sharp in every other aspect and it only got a 4.5. Not sure how that happened.

But, overall, happy again with CSG.

I think you are reading wayyyy too hard into CSG early days ESPECIALLY because you are comparing them to SGC.

SGC's new modern marketing (not old days or old vintage lovers) took a HUGE hit in early covid days. They were all over social media talking smack on other grading companies and then fell victim themselves of not being able to get cards out with huge delays.

Did they correct all that? Yes, in due time. Congrats ... but that is the point that it pales no different that CSG cant get past the early changes you speak of.

The new label is better by a wide margin, Beckett is the last main grader providing subs, CSG not doing subs isn't hurting them.

CSG being apart of CCG no different then PSA are GOLIATHS. Both HUGE Companies in the grading space.

If CSG (CCG) or PSA woke up tomorrow and decided to buy SGC they easily could.

If at any point either of those two companies above felt like SGC was a true threat and was hurting their Companies chance to compete and take market share they'd just buy out SGC.

All 4 major grading companies serve a great purpose and we've seen all Companies take strides to better themselves because they have competition. If their was no competition you'd see the same old tactics at the expense of consumers with no innovation.

There's tons of innovation happening.

This is a great point. When CSG aligned their grading scale to basically mirror SGC, I actually thought a purchase was imminent. SGC will never be able to challenge PSA for the #1 spot. Their slab is too divisive. People either love it or hate it.

Yeah, SGC has been around a long time with many opportunities to take advantage of PSA's various scandals. They never really gained any traction until the PSA shutdown time. As noted, even then they had to put their foot in their mouth before doing it. If PSA got back on track sooner (or never off track) the social media love for SGC is likely much lower.

I would love CSG to buyout SGC. CSG has a better infrastructure and financial backing. SGC has better graders (I know subjective, but that is what is holding me back from CSG. Vintage grading still feels real soft.) CSG's holders are fantastic and the black label - also much like SGC - is a vast improvement. Putting SGC graders with the CSG infrastructure would be a great way to really become a strong player in the grading hierarchy. PSA would still be 1, but you would have a very clear number 2.

Couldn't agree more. SGC's grading and reputation with CSG's slab, label, org, and financial backing would create a grading company that could at least pressure PSA or keep them honest. Would be the obvious number two (and probably destroy BGS in the process) and would be just one more major PSA scandal away from being the top grading company in the industry.

Both also being located in Florida ... and once upon a time SGC was apart of CCG but then they let them go off on their own. A lot of the players up top have changed it seems with CCG with one even as of just recently ... so times have changed, and I believe Pete whilst president etc still answers to the owners of SGC. So he can say they'd never sell etc but not his decision to be had. (presumably) I'd like to think they'd also work better together. I think it would be slick that when you go for grading (if they were combined) you had a drop down box that you could freely choose if you want the "Tuxedo" or not. So the vintage lovers of SGC could still remain and get what they want. And I do agree that vintage does look good in a tux. And whilst I didnt mind modern in a tux at first I've grown to dislike much modern in the sgc slab as the CSG one is just miles better.

My bulk order of 169 cards was received on 01/17 and I got them back yesterday. Sadly I am super busy with work this week so I haven't even had time to open them up to go through them yet. It was all condition sensitive 90's stuff. They beat up on a few of them, but overall I was pleased with the grades. I think all but 19 cards got at least an 8.

Just got my living legend foil set back and every card was 8-9, which I expected. This set is extremely condition sensitive. I will next send my team pinnacle football set.
