Right!? And I think "purple" is manufactured value in a way (just trying to sneak an extra parallel in). I feel like the classic Gold, Orange (to a lesser extent), and Red are always the most desirable (traditional - those colors/parallels go way back). Just like Red Wave, Gold Lava, etc aren't nearly as good as the true Red & Gold.

I also wonder which is the more desirable - Topps Chrome - or Chrome Update Sapphire? Sapphire is more premium, way fewer of the autos (41 total) - but Chrome came first...

My gut tells me that selling this card in the next couple months may be the best, safest play but that's a decision you'll have to tackle yourself.

Yeah, all good points (I trimmed your post in the reply)! Until this past season, I was always bigger on Wander than Julio myself (I actually bought a lot of 8 PSA 10 1st Bowman Mojos - wish I did that with J-Rod now). I don't think injuries are going to keep Wander down at all. He showed amazing play (that streak) late in his rookie year, and I think he has a big breakout year this year, assuming he stays healthy. Power could come in time as it seems to do with a lot of players who are great pure hitters.

But like you said, J-Rod has already demonstrated exceptional play (and power).

The next couple of months could be the best time to sell. I'm just wondering if, with all the hype on J-Rod, do I wait and give Wander time to catch fire next season (of course risking that he doesn't). I may throw it up on eBay soon with a high BIN and see what happens. I see a J-Rod Sapphire Update Orange /25 Auto there at $29,999 (not sold of course). Maybe someone will see this 5/5 as worthy of big $. Or maybe not.

I'd wager the Julio auto /10 is more than double the value of the wander auto /5 right now. Wander just has so many more cards this year.

If I was putting $20k into an investment card, I would sleep much better at night with the Julio tucked under my pillowcase, imo.

Wander has a lower floor, and if he can’t put up the power numbers, his stuff can sink fast, like Luis Robert stuff.

I was sweating it out for a little while, thinking we were both getting dud boxes. Was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the Tork was his jersey number as well (20/25). I really love this product, wish I had sprung for a few more on release day.

Blowout is up to $270 per box.

Trying to hold the boxes I have left for the long term and it's been a challenge to resist the urge to rip. Packed them into a retaped shipping box and stashed out of sight...

What pricing have you been able to get when buying secondary? I’ve been trying to get below $2k for a case but that seems to be the floor.
