Eh, if John Riggins can score 46 TDs and rush for over 3200 yards at the ages of 34-36 I think Barry was going to squeak out a few more good seasons. I know Riggins is an exception to the rule but so is Barry.

Shouldn’t the title of this thread be:

“Brady retires…….again………again.”

Very good call on Tiki. He went out on top in terms of production. He's always going to be a "what if" story to me. If he plays one more year and has the kind of production that he had in his last season, wins the ring, and then retires, he might be in Canton right now. He would have had six straight 1,200+ yard rushing seasons to finish his career and likely eclipse 12,000 yards rushing and 17,000 yards from scrimmage with a ring.

As others have pointed out, Luke Kuechly & Patrick Willis stand out. Tiki was still good too. Luck had a series of injuries, so its not like he just woke up one morning and didnt want to play.

Same with Sayers, he retired young but he was having a rough go of it before that. Ditto Earl Campbell.

How has no one mentioned Jim Brown? At 30 he walked away at the top of his game. Same with Lynn Swann.

Does Vontae Davis qualify?

And this was "horrible"? Even by his own standards, it was a down year. But still a very good year for any QB. Especially for one that is 45.
18th in QBR and passer rating.

30th in yards per attempt

That's not great by any means.

And he went 8-9 in a crappy division barely making the playoffs.

He was better than the bottom tier QB's, but he wasn't anything special this year. Nothing wrong with that, at least he wasn't horrific like Manning was his last year

Always liked Brady even when it seemed like everyone hated him for one reason or another. His story is great. His legacy even greater.

For everyone's sake, I hope this retirement is the real deal.

The guy is the GOAT to me, zero doubt. What I didn't like about him(and the Patriots) was the cheating. That always rubbed me the wrong way. He didn't need to cheat to be the GOAT.

Brady has it made. Now 10 years working for Fox he can then collect SS and be able to retire for real. LOL

What's even more amazing, is that his final Super Bowl victory against the Chiefs was his largest margin of victory, 22 points, the aggregate margin of victory in the previous 6 victories was 29.

Makes you wonder how good the teams around him in New England actually were. How much of it was a combination of the competition not rising to the occasion/luck/fall of the dice...

Super Bowl 36 – New England Patriots 20, St. Louis Rams 17 (3 points)
Super Bowl 38 – New England Patriots 32, Carolina Panthers 29 (3 points)
Super Bowl 39 – New England Patriots 24, Philadelphia Eagles 21 (3 points)
Super Bowl 49 – New England Patriots 28, Seattle Seahawks 24 (4 points)
Super Bowl 51 – New England Patriots 34, Atlanta Falcons 28 (OT) (6 points)
Super Bowl 53 – New England Patriots 13, Los Angeles Rams 3 (10 points)
Super Bowl 55 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, Kansas City Chiefs 9
