Completed a set that was one of my favorites growing up. I was lucky enough to pull the Kobe and the Iverson myself.

I like them, I would certainly love to own a Jordan one day. I just wish they would have added the sparkle effect to the basketball ones like they did with the football set. It just makes them pop a little more.

I bought one pack of UD Choice in 1998-99 and found a Jalen Rose Choice numbered 8/100. Wasn’t as elaborate as other numbered cards at the time but I grew a fondness for the set just for finding one in a pack. Still have the card today!

Collectors Choice factory sets were great in 1995-96 and 1996-97 as you got five Platinums and five Mini Golds respectively.

I posted this card on instagram a couple of days ago:

1998-99 Bowman's Best - Autographs: A1 Kobe Bryant

I spent quite a bit of time on this release when it first landed. I opened a couple of boxes and and in addition to putting together the base set, I decided to chase down a number of inserts. My records show that I pulled the Michael Doleac version of this card from a box and then slowly added another seven of the eight cards available from the 'Autograph' insert set over the following decade. Tim Duncan is still a want!

I am fortunate enough to own a handful of Kobe on-card auto cards; but this was my first. Consequently, it is a card I treasure more than most.
