That's a great trade for the Nets! Wing defense should be great - with Royce, DFS, Claxton and Ben (when healthy).

Agree. I seriously do not get it. No matter how good (and kyrie is GOOD) the guy is, how can you ever justify acquiring a proven team killer

I’m amazed they traded Dorian, he’s been such a consistent piece for them.

With what Dallas gave away; the plan has to be to sign Kyrie to a long-term deal. Too much to give up for three months on a pretty lousy team just for 2023.

I guess this is now the play for Dallas. Yet another example of how Cuban and Dallas has no plan whatsoever, and just improvises on the fly. Iriving + Luka is now the Mavericks long-term vision.

Felt like the Nets could have done better.

Welcome to the Lone Star State Kyrie!

Given their situation, I think the Nets did VERY well!

Dallas has to make another move. They're even shorter than they were yesterday, last in the league in boards.

If the Mavs had just held on to Brunson, they could have avoided all of this. But... who knows? Change of latitude, change of attitude.

Mavs didn’t really give up much. Dinwiddie is one of the worst defenders in the league (he’s so bad that the Mavs are one of the worst defensive teams in history when Luka is out of the lineup). DFS is an above average defender who is an average spot up three point shooter, but can’t do anything else. The picks are whatever. A 2029 first and some second rounders? Irrelevant when you’re trying to win now while Luka is still on your roster.

Like what brothertona said above, DFS was very consistent, as Dinwiddie;
they were very dependable.

It's not like those 2 had crippling contracts;
Perhaps the Mavs would flip Kyrie to the Lakers?

Moving DFS and Dinwiddie was about opening cap space to sign Irving to a max (which Dallas likely will ASAP). You lose off ball movement on O and solid D w/ Smith; but little w/ Dinwiddie. DFS was Mavs 2nd best player; it's a solid get by BKN.

It may not be before this deadline ... I don't think Dallas is serious about winning in '23 (trying to fit that peg into the hole seems impossible). But this off-season, they'll definitely look to lengthen.

It's hilarious how there's always another team that thinks they fix this guy.

pretty good deal for Dallas, have to win now with Luka, a top 3 player in the league with Jokic and Giannis. They need a big now that can rebound the ball.

shocking the lakers or clippers didnt get Kyrie. I thought forsure they would.

I mostly agree. Let's be real, nobody on the Mavs roster outside of Luka are championship pieces. This is basically upgrading Dinwiddie for Irving which is a massive upgrade just looking at on court. I guess I am not as high on DFS as others. He seems easily replaceable. Mavs still have work to do, they need defense. I do think their offense will be a lot of "take turns". Both Luka and Kyrie will get some open three opportunities when they aren't handling the ball. Luka can get rewarded for standing around when he doesn't have the ball on offense, lol.

Awful awful awful. If they sign this bum to a long term deal…wow. Of course the person that gets hurt the most is Luka.

I’ve said it once and will say it again:

Luka will be buried in a Mavs jersey with exactly one ring on his finger.

I'm confused, you think that's a bad thing? Dirk has one ring
