yea, that is possible. but i'd think the buyer will usually win if not happy

You got super lucky hitting it. Now is not the time to skimp out, wait around or be cheap. Book a flight this week to LA via Southwest. You wont be gone 36hrs. $1000 in travel expenses max. Spend the money so you can maximize your newly found money.

Realistically, if this got a 10, what would I be looking at in value? That would determine if I want to spend the $$ to fly to LA....

He must not be buying $250+ cards on ebay Goes through authentication, buyer keeps forever. (assuming it passes which it should if not creased or dropped on a corner or melted by a USPS sorting machine)

A lot. Shine a flashlight at an angle on the surface. You'll be able to see the condition clearly. That will help you determine if it will grade a ten. If there are some surface lines or minor scratches, use a microfiber cloth and glass cleaner(not windex but the solution to clean wearing glasses) to wipe it down. Do not wipe the auto! Centering looks fine. Corners look fine on the front. Good luck. I'd fly it in and get it graded in person.

/10 and Julio sapphire auto? Man, I'd just put a high BIN and list as is. Take the highest offer you get and if none of those offers are deemed worthy, send it in to PSA securely with insurance. Spending $1k and hours of your presumably valuable time to walk it through PSA seems a bit much to me.

I agree. Im throwing it in the mail between two pieces of cardboard overnight. But he's a newbie to grading and its obvious he's a little hesitant. Totally fine obviously. If you want to maximize while never letting the card out of your control...you fly it out personally. The expense is for comfort. He can afford comfort with this pull.

97% of all packages get delivered. People don't go on message boards and post every time they get a package delivered successfully...only when they don't.

Hahaha touche.

But can't he (or won't PSA) add insurance to package when it's sent back?

If this is a big concern for you, you have to fly it out there yourself. Eliminates the worry of mailing the card there and having the card mailed back to you. The expense of flying/lodging is the cost of comfort.

I would try to sell it raw, but if you are going to grade, PSA is the way. Walk through would be fun, given that this is a five-figure card in its current state.

Separately, it is shocking to me that BGS is still even in the conversation for some people. Horrible management. Terrible service. Resale values are in the toilet. Way too expensive.

SGC is a much better second choice, but you don't go with a second choice for a card like this one.

If you're ready to sell, have Goldin send you an overnight FedEx label. Let them handle the grading for you and then they can sell it for you when they get it back.

That introduces even more risk with another stop and another intake system.

selling on the internet, its best to have it graded.

Isn’t this why eBay installed their verification system? Sell it on eBay and it doesn’t come back???

I agree that you should fly it out and have it walked through PSA, but the reasoning behind doing so would also underline your intention to sell it in person as well - right? This is a big card, and the market that can afford it is small - do you intend to fly it to the buyer as well, or do you have a local whale to buy it?

If you plan to walk it through PSA, might as well do it in the next couple days AND hit up the Burbank Card show to try and sell it.

Unsure of your work flexibility but maybe you're starting to get sick and need to take a couple days off anyway.

Almost all of grading is.
