There have been a few. The very first 2005-06 release had some stickers. Pastrnak’s RPAs have stickers too. I think that was a similar situation where the card was a redemption and the only way UD could get them done was via sticker. Pastrnak no longer signs so there may not have been any other choice.

This product is so strange because it's 2020/21, there is no speculation with any of these "rookies". We know who's good and we know who's washing cars in Kalamazoo.

Joel Hofer is one of the league best young goalie prospects, he’s slated to take over the Blues starting job in probably a season or two with Binnington’s play dwindling hard over the past few years. It wouldn’t take very long to google Joel Hofer and see he’s not some awful prospect, atleast not on the same level as Liam Foudy (who still has time to develop as well)

I'm sure he's wonderful. I did a quick Google search...it showed he played 2 NHL games since 2020. I guess I needed to do more, that is my lack of due diligence. He's also 6'3" and weighs 160lbs.

However, how happy would you be if you plunked down $1300 for a box of this and this was your RPA?

Disappointed to see Tim Stützle has become an initials only signature guy with his Cup autographs. I get it's probably boring to crank these out, but come on.

Damn nice card!
It's really all in the presentation and design- sometimes stickers actually work.

Height and weight isn't exactly a detriment to his skills or overall development, lots of goaltenders were tall and lanky, also he's played 2 games because the Blues had multiple goaltenders in front of him and goaltenders are notorious for taking longer to develop into full-time starters.

However I bought two boxes of Premier at release when they were around $500 and both my RPAs were Joel Hofer. However I know when I am going to open up The Cup, my chances of making my box back is slim, hell in any box that's true but definitely with The Cup. I also know the checklist and know who is possible to be pulled so getting a Joel Hofer RPA? I wouldn't be upset. Definitely nothing like if I pulled a Jonas Johansson or Calvin Thurkauf RPA but thats the pitfalls of opening up a box of The Cup. It's named The Cup, not "Only Big Hits" so I know what I'm getting into.

I also look at other sports, open up a box of FOTL Spectra Football for 1200 and you can get autos of offensive lineman and 4th string safeties, it's part of the hobby.

Truer words were never spoken!
I look forward to your break and all the best. I'm sure you'll be very pleased if you pull 'the' sticker auto,

Am I the only one who find most of this product super bland looking? So far the only thing that is eye catching is the lamp lighter autos. The floating head quad relic is intern-level design.

The quad relic looks like they hired a headstone designer from a funeral home.
The chemical compositions are worse.

Truth. I’ve only watched a few breaks but these are absolutely brutal.

That time, they did a good job of integrating the sticker into the design.

This year, not that much. I've seen the Kaprizov shield sticker auto 1/1 on facebook. It will be a big $$$$$ card, but it looks like a photoshop highschool project.

People are pricing them as if they are on-card and not getting bites. Pulling him would be great, but prices are not being touched, even by some collector groups. I know a big Kirill collector who hit a /97 dual patch auto and he is trying to move it! That tells us a lot about what most PC collectors think about the Cup having stickers. I know Dynasty and some others would love pulling them and rightfully so, but Many and it is a big percentage will not touch them. What The Cup gamblers must realize that is stickers turn off the BIG Kaprizov collectors, who will buy them?

Yeah but half of the people buying hockey product out there have no idea what they’re throwing money at. They just want to be part of any sort of action. It’s like Boiler Room for sports nerds.

Yep, all you have to do is go backwards and see what you can get for similar money from the cup previous years or big name players.

Now mind you the cost involved in the cup does seem to be spilling over into rasing other propduct ultimate/premier/opc platinum pricing.

Some breaker asked if Glen Hall was battling a disease because of his auto. It’s moron central out there.

I for one am glad I followed my gut and began to buy Kirill on card autos because I thought he would be a redemption and signs were he was not signing for Upper Deck. I never imagined stickers would be on his RPA’s and other cards. Yes, better than nothing, but again as a Kirill PC guy, the product lost a lot and the other high end products will be the beneficiary down the road.

I love the Ultimate rookies /99. Hard-signed, no photo-shoot debatable material, clean design, low print run. Really underappreciated in my opinion.
The autoed shields are amazing too.

Ultimate/Premier was even better in its early years, with shorter checklists and less rookie-year fillers.

Premier is also better than the cup. Premier RPA was at least worn by the athlete, unlike with Panini.

Is this really any appeal to player-worn over the authentic memorabilia thing Panini does? Both of them are kind of meaningless

Player-worn is just when players throw on a bunch of jerseys for 10 seconds like this:

Is that really worth paying a premium for?
