2023 Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Valentine's Day is Canceled!

Anyone catch this release on the Topps website today? Shockingly, it sold out in just over half an hour.

Some of the sketches for this set look absolutely amazing, and it seems the sketch odds may not be half bad if the print run was not huge. Should be a fun rip - I locked 5 boxes in. Now the waiting game for Topps to ship...

I got home from my P/T job and "Sold Out."

Very disappointing.

I actually don't remember seeing a limit posted, and that could definitely be one reason these sold out so fast - a few GPK whales (and they are out there) decided to go in heavy.

Didn't see it. I usually don't buy these sets unless the sketch odds are posted. The Wacky Packy sketch odds are usually good, like 1:2.

I wouldn't mind picking one up on secondary, but the ones listed on ebay are base set only (not marked up too heavy on a few). Some of the sealed prices are insane....one asking $899 for a box they just paid $40 for.

There are listings including sketches on eBay so maybe could ask a seller about odds they experienced. Did anybody see one of the variant boxes sell pretty high?

That was a good idea. 4 sketches over 20 boxes, so 1:5. Not horrible, but not great either. Makes me feel a little bit better about not grabbing up any at release.

Someone in a GPK facebook group I'm in posted their rip yesterday of this product, and according to them they hit 5 sketches in 10 boxes. I can't believe sketches would really be 1:2 boxes, so they likely go very lucky; 1:5 would make more sense. Either way, seems this is one of the easier sketch hit products in some time.

My 5 boxes are due to arrive this afternoon, so I'll update the thread if/when I decide to crack them.

Interesting thanks. Did the person with the 10 boxes get a pink variant art box? They do look awesome.

They didn't post that info, but I was curious, too. Those are 1:10, right? So presumably they should have gotten one. I'm hoping one of my five are the variant; I plan on keeping it sealed if so.

Opened four boxes of this tonight. (Ordered five, and one was the pink box short print, so I’ll be keeping that sealed.)

Two sketches out of the four boxes, so 1:2 boxes for a sketch seems to be the appropriate odds. This was very short printed more than likely. Fun set.

They didn't post the odds on the website this Valentines release, but for the Krashers 3 set last year it was 1:2 sketch odds for the same price. I wound up getting 3 sketches from 5 boxes for that release. I'll say that one was pretty odd to me since it did not sell out, despite the near guarantee to get a sketch, and then this sells out in a 1/2 hour.

I suppose the fact that these are normal GPK cards and not Krashers cards might have some effect on that. Plus these have red/black/foil parallels and C cards where Krashers just had 2 subsets and foil parallels only.

I'm still waiting to get my Valentines order, I'll post what I got.

Surprised they didn't release some actual Valentine's Day cards for kids to give out at school. Those would have been huge in the 80's. As a boy, I always felt so awkward having to give every kid in my class a Valentine's Day card, but they were kind of fun to open.

As an adult, I bought a box of Grumpy Cat valentines 1 year and handed out at the office to be silly.

Broke five boxes, man what a loaded product. I went from zero GPK sketches to three (Jasmine Contois, Adam Dobrzeniecki and Ziggy):

I hate glitter but love this sketch by Jasmine Contois!

Does anybody know which artist goes by "Ziggy"?

Huh if that's true it's weird he wasn't on the official checklist and the other two I pulled were. I see he's a member, I will maybe ask him to be sure.
