if 86 fleer PSA 9's keep declining, lets say under $9k I think you have a very compelling opportunity to make a smart long term buy. Tough to peg the bottom, but another 30% decline and I actually really really like this card more then about anything out there

I kind of agree. At that point, I'd really be entertaining adding a PSA 9 to the collection.

Same here. If it gets back to 10k or so I’ll probably jump in.

Jordan rookies in PSA 8 at around $6k and PSA 9’s are around $14-15k. Remember when all of the shenanigans were going on and Goldin had a pair “sell” for $738k on the same day. Market went to $27k for 8’s and $90k for PSA 9’s. A lot of people did not read what was going on and took a huge hit on those cards. Pretty disgusting what some dealers and AH’s did to collectors. If the 8’s get to $5k and 9’s get to $9-10k I will grab some.

Dealers didn't do nothing to the collectors. The market caught fire and it caused a frenzy. It happens in any market that catches fire, people get FOMO and prices go bonkers.

In hindsight, i wish i had sold my PSA 9 when it peaked at $75K and the Sticker 9s peaked at $30K (had 3 beautiful ones). Do the math LOL. That's enough cash to buy half a home.

I am sure that two PSA 10’s, selling for $738k exactly on the same night in Goldin auctions, had nothing to do with the huge run up in prices. 🙄 I mean it is not like the Jordan rookie in a PSA 10 grade is a Wagner rookie with only a handful of known examples in the marketplace. In fact there are over 330 Jordan rookies in PSA 10 grade, and prior to the $738k “sales” price this card was selling for $220-230k as the high. Does not take a NASA level brain to realize this was a market manipulation by some bad actors - said at the time in this thread and to this day. Thank goodness I took my own advice and did not buy any at the time.

If you had $90k to spend on Jordan cards and all you got was a Fleer RC PSA 9, then you're a fool.

You can have an excellent 90s collection of his for that. And some Exquisite Autos.

I'm not sure how many "good guys" actually got screwed over. If it was just rich idiots than I don't care.

Would not be surprised if it drops to $75K-100K price range. The correction is not yet over in my opinion. We still have not seen a BGS 10 for sale in the last 5 to 7 years. When was the last time a BGS 10 sold privately or in a public auction?

It’s not a correction. It’s a crash. And we aren’t at bottom.

People buying in now are hoping we have hit bottom and hoping what we saw during COVID is somewhat replicable.

PSA 10 1986 Fleer Jordan did $180K this past Saturday night on Heritage. Maybe Goldin burying it on their listings pages down has something to do with it????

Inflation is slowly and steadily grinding away at people’s expendable income - sometimes it gets costly to hold on to something long term when you need cash today.

Very well said. How do more people not know this by now?

Do the BGS 10's even carry any superior cache at this point? Does the market at that level still operate on the buying the label, not the card? How much better are the 5/6 BGS 10's over the PSA 10's? Not including that egregious coffee stained one that was floating around the boards..

This one sold last month in a PWCC auction.

No idea on a card like this. There are no black labels. 86F BGS 10 pop is 6 if I am not wrong. Sometimes all it takes is two people in a bidding war to create a record sale.

Yeah sorry, I meant to add more context to that. LeBron refractor PSA 10 peaked at 270k I think, so a Jordan BGS 10 might still fetch a good price but likely won’t touch the peak imo.

It's only a crash to those who entered the hobby during the pandemic. For those of us who have been collecting since the 80's and 90's, these current prices are still leaps and bounds ahead of what they used to be. I've never paid more than $600 for a PSA 8 Fleer Jordan RC. I bought a BGS 7 1984 Star Jordan RC for $1000 back in 2017 and sold it a month later for $1500 and thought I made out like a bandit. This course correction will eventually level out, unfortunately; a lot of newcomers are going to lose their shirts before it happens.

psa 10 crashing, but 9s and 8s have moved up a lot this month. 9s from 13k to 16k and 8s from 5.5k to 7.5k. I wonder if this moves the 9s back down? Love to grab a 9 under 10k.
