Default Crazy USPS Tracking Story of the Day

I had someone send me a package via Priority Mail on Monday from St. Louis, heading to Louisiana with expected delivery by Friday, March 24. After not seeing any updates besides "Acceptance" since Monday, I get an alert that the package has arrived at the BARRIGADA GU DISTRIBUTION CENTER...in GUAM.

I have had packages intended for Louisiana go to CA (someone like read "LA" as Los Angeles and not Louisiana) but going to Guam is a first. Has anyone had this big of a miss happen before?

I purchased some cards from a guy less then 200 miles away. Same state. Eary Monday morning and got them the next Tuesday evening. I few weeks later I purchased some more from him. 3 weeks later I received them. They went through 4 states and was out for delivery 4 times. We both watched the tracking wondering where it would go next.

I had a "fun" one several years ago, sent a package to Canada and it took a detour to New Zealand. The buyer opened a case accusing me of fraud, I was forced to refund, then a week later it was delivered to him. Not a peep from him after that, not to offer to resend payment or even just to say that he received them.

If it showed delivered couldn't you open a case and get a chargeback?

Same happened to me with a buyer in Arizona... card was slow through USPS during 2021 covid shutdowns and buyer opened a DNR case and won. I was forced to refund. Then a week later it was shown as delivered and EBay did a chargeback and I got the payment back.

They have only been doing that for the past couple of years and even then its not a 100% sure thing If several years ago it may have been before they did this more often.

I'm pretty sure I contacted eBay after to let them know it was delivered but I'm not sure if they gave me my money back or not. I think I ended up out the cards and money.

ive had some pretty dump WTF moments with USPS over the years. had a few packages take cross country trips a few times and even bounce back and forth between a local distribution center and another main hub about 10 times before getting back on track. most of the routing is done solely by machine and its not totally unheard of that a package get loaded onto a entirely wrong pallet to be sent somewhere way out of the way. so long as it gets back on track, thats all that matters.

I had a package that was stuck in a weeks long back and forth between Kearney and Phillipsburg out here in NJ. I was able to call the Phillipsburg post office and have them hold it before it got sent back to Kearney for redistribution and I drove the half hour to go pick it up.
