For reference last year there were already printed sheets of Update (specifically, base parallels - therefore the lineup for the base cards must have already been locked down) by July 7, per the dates on the leaked sheets we saw. Possibly other sheets were printed even earlier, but let's just stick to that date. That product released October 28. That's 113 days. (I suppose it's also possible the printed dates there were related to the files, not the date they were printed - but I believe they leaked around the end of July, so at most we're talking ~3 weeks difference.)

Series 2 released June 10. Working backwards from June 10, on the same time frame, you'd have printed sheets already by February 17, and possibly earlier. (FWIW, 2021 was June 12, 2020 was June 26 (but COVID...), 2019 was June 12, 2018 was June 13. So I'd say that June 10 (or so) is a pretty safe target date.)

Now, do we know that they actually need that much lead time between printed sheets and release date? No. But we don't have other data to work with, so it's better than nothing.

He might play better because he has less pressure, but Julio has the clearer path to being the bigger star / face of his franchise if that makes sense.

yeah it does...but I think inherently there is more pressure on julio to be the guy.

And If walker starts out real hot and we don't see any rookie cards of him till mid season...his early stuff is going to get real hot.

I’d say Walker can take all the hobby love away from Arenado and Goldschmidt.

Homegrown superstar can trump those guys.

Not likely he goes full Adell. Strikeout rate isn’t close to that level.

But he could definitely struggle. I don’t think he’s one of the cardinals top three outfielders today. I see a Bobby Witt Jr. type year for him, with a slightly better obp

I think he’ll need a few months and need to make adjustments, but the future is bright.

I saw him play AA ball. His biomechanics scare me. He looks injury prone.

He's 6'6" and still growing. Saying he'll have knee problems at some point in his life is like saying you'll get wet if you fall out of a boat into a lake.

I feel like a fair comparable ceiling for Walker is basically Aaron Judge if he had been called up at age 20.

He looked good, but 19 strikeouts in 59 plate appearances is scary.

Small sample size… but not that small.

The earliest you see a rookie card of him is Series 2, and that's a maybe.

2019 Tatis was in series 2, but Vlad Jr was a SP and 2020 Robert was in it.

Then last year, Julio was just a SP despite being on the club to start the year.

I thought he would start out at Memphis. But I'm excited what the future might hold.

He was still on base in 3 of 5 plate appearances. As long as the zone control holds up, and given his track record it should, then the Ks aren't such a big issue. Obviously he'd be better if he can get them back down into the low to mid 20s.

So who's got a good physical comparison - just on straight tools? Winfield?
