Default Breaking Down the Source Material for Panini's Teal Joe Dumars Relics

Back in 2019, I made a post about how one of my Flawless patches came from this jersey sold via Goldin Auctions:

https://goldinauctions.com/1996_97_J...-lot40729.aspx

Since then, more pieces have come out, and I thought it would be fun to do a deep dive on Panini's teal Dumars relics.

If this is the kind of stuff you're into, you can find plenty more at the YouTube video below (about 18 minutes long).

Thanks!

Correct. The new Nike "patches" are hard to do much with as well. The Adidas and earlier-era pieces had plenty of loose threads and imperfections to work with. Now it's nearly impossible.

Great recap as usual.

I had a "legendary" player logoman patch card once (unsigned) and was able to track the patch back to a jersey that was sold through auction a few years before the card was made.

The Authenticity for the jersey in the auction was a Mears A5 which means that the jersey has all of the appropriate characteristics of a team issued jersey, but nothing else.

This jersey also came from a year 91/92 where it seems there were plenty of the same year jerseys being auctioned off for this player and his teammates.

On that basis knowing the information I had, I decided to sell it (thankfully during the boom for about 10X times what I paid for it).

I was very lucky but knowing that the jersey patch was probably not game worn (despite the card saying it was) it was an easy decision for me to move it on.

I think this was the right move. I'm still learning the game-used space, but I've learned A5 is usually a no-go.
