First Buzz: 2022 Topps Stadium Club Chrome baseball cards

Finally got my boxes from Topps. Feels like I got smoked. At least the Witt is a refractor and the Griffey is a wave. That /99 Winker was the real kick to the nads as a second auto in the 2nd box. Here are the hits?

Just posted on the breaks thread but my 2 hobby boxes were pretty brutal…first time I’ve struck out with SCC product. Fun as always to rip though, so no ragrets

The boxes have absolutely run hot and absolutely brutally icy cold. I also have to think Julio seems very SP, I know one card in a set but man he’s hard to find. I finally just bought a refractor on eBay so I didn’t have to hunt for one

Not a huge sample size but i opened 10 blasters and 4 hobby boxes and pulled 1 julio base and that was the only Julio card I pulled..I didn't even pull the easy inserts he's in lol

400 card set can be brutal. I ripped enough of 2020 to have 4-5 of most cards in the set, but Freddie Freeman and Hanser Alberto evaded me. Ended up buying them on eBay to finally complete my set.

Dont think it's just Julio. Took me 4 hobby boxes to hit just 1 of each of the big rookies (JRod, Witt, Tork, Pena, etc) and I still couldnt hit a Wander or Strider base card.

I think I opened 10 blasters and pulled 2 base Julio, 1 xfractor Julio, 1 insert Julio (not beam team). Zero Witt, Zero Wander, 1 Beam team tork.

you'll get around 1100 base cards in a 16 box case.
so 1100/400 = 2.75 cards per player on average per case.

Last two boxes - Suzuki by far the best hit out of 4 total boxes. Love the aesthetics of the
cards - but overall a fairly brutal rip.

I heard 33 copies this year, definitely not as rare as previous years... this year they're in between an orange and gold as far as rareness is concerned. They seem appropriately priced I think? So many parallels now in every product, 33 isn't a crazy amount anymore. (If that's the right number)

I ordered 4, for local pick up this Friday, and I'm tempted to go-in for another 10! But I don't want to potentially run up against a problem (eg. cancellation of one/other/both). Thanks.

I ordered 5, which was the max i could get. Pickup for me though is 2 weeks. Dont know about them canceling orders though, never ordered a lot through them.

What’s the print run of the regular series stadium club chrome refractors, I know they were 1 per 4 boxes and there were 90 in the checklist.

Friends -

Had a great rip story unfold yesterday and felt the need to share. I went to my local shop for supplies and came home with supplies and a bonus box of SCC (age old story, I know). I had only ripped one box prior, and was listening to the Angels game while browsing the shop with my Dad. Made a joke that I had to get a box with Ohtani as the cover man, because he was in the middle of the Bad Inning yesterday. New juju.

Start breaking open the box as the cover man starts closing in on a cycle. I get somewhat whelmed when I hit my rookie auto early on, a Simon Muzziotti. OK - looking for some colour now.

Get to my last stack of packs and find, back to back in the single greatest pack of Stadium Club I've ever opened, a gold /50 Bobby Witt RC and a redemption for a Beam Team auto... yeah. Shohei Ohtani. Zombie box refused to die.

My first Ohtani auto. Can't wait for it come in.
