Absolutely do NOT crack and resub that card. The chances of damage during cracking is higher with this card due to the fragility of clears and there's a very real chance it grades LOWER with all the focus on Ohtani and tighter grading standards these days.

Need an additional reason: I'm the guy who subbed a 2018 Update Soto Clear to PSA a couple years back - initially graded PSA 9 but was damaged during the slabbing process and came back PSA 6 after all was said and done. I'm sure that was more of an abberation but the potential benefit in cracking a clear just doesn't outweigh the risk, for a number of reasons.

I’ve thought of your issue when I was going to submit my Essential Credentials cards. I know there are some Topps Clears slabbed, and Essential Credentials, but I just can’t bring myself to take the risk of a corner getting melted.

Oh yeah I remember your clear Soto getting melted! PSA seems to damage more cards now would not crack that clear Ohtani!!!

Hmmm is it even worth having these cards graded, if in theory you can't get the card out in the condition it was graded at? That makes having a good condition slab that much more important IMO. I bought a couple slabbed cards that were rough, but thankfully were rehabbed with some PlastX.

Grading is only part of the equation,authenticating is the other. All high end cards must be graded. Also trimmening/alterations it's a dirty hobby when it come to big money.

Ok so there’s definitely FOMO going around. After reading the last few pages I decided to put up a few base Ohtani RC’s. I just bought a couple back in Jan for $4 each. Sold one a few minutes ago for $40. I put $40 BIN w/ offers and they didn’t even bother. I’m going to raise the price to $50 and see what happens. This is crazy.

The Bowman chrome has new listings starting at 950, and the one ending in an hour is tracking towards 1100. It's blowing up for sure..

At this point it’s a no brained to send in all my 2018 TCU Ohtani cards, even the rookie debuts? Looks like the HMT1’s are selling for around $250 and the RD’s are selling for about $200. Easy $!

I sent a 2019 clear to SGC awhile back and it came back with a decent grade but definitely had noticeable surface scratches it didn't have when I submitted it.

I can’t believe how much rookie debutes are going for, wow I also cat believe how much 2019 “error”rc cards are going for, I had them up for like 2 bucks for the longest time before I took them down, maybe it’s time realist them.
