Have a high end card I'm planning on selling in the next few weeks. Definitely going to go through either PWCC or Goldin (leaning PWCC as of right now), and based on comps I am incredibly confident it's at bare minimum a 20k card with a good chance to do 25-30. I'm sure conventional wisdom would be to send this to one of the monthly premier auctions, but I'm seriously considering sending it to a weekly auction instead.
My logic is, even though a 20k card is in like the top .001% of most valuable sports cards ever created, in a monthly premier auction, it probably won't even be a top 20-25 card and would very likely be overshadowed by cards worth 10x+ more. In most weekly auctions though, it would be the biggest card in the entire thing, and therefore would get the most attention and be the first thing every bidder sees when they click on the auction. Plus the PWCC premier auction charges you a flat 2k fee just to get in, as well as the 10% they always take of the final sale. I've sold plenty of like 8-10k cards in weekly auctions and have gotten paid every time, so I'm also not really too concerned that it won't be paid for since the weekly auctions have less strict buyer verification. Curious what you guys think, am I overthinking it or is there maybe some validity in my though process? |

So you are paying $4-5k to have someone else to sell the card for you.
Why not just list the card on Ebay and sell it yourself. If you have a store, there is a cap on your final selling fee. I'm not sure what it is for others but I know mine is around $250. You do have the 3% fee as well but that's a lot better than 20%. |

My account manager at PWCC usually suggest to send anything valued less than $25k to weekly vs. monthly. I would think monthly would give more buyers time to view and more traffic, but at the end of the day, if the card is valued a given amount, it'll still fetch that amount either way. Also, you need to time it around any hype there is. I assume it's not listed now, but I would've list it to overlap with the national's just due to the hype of people wanting to buy something and alot of social media hype of the card show.

Buy a plane ticket & take it to the National & sell yourself for straight up cash.

Yeah, I assumed that they took 2k on top of the fees. So I thought on a 20k card, buyer would pay 24, fees would get you to 22, and then they'd take 2 so you'd walk away with 20.
