I just bought a Luzardo on-card auto/RC logo card for $3.99. I love the current market

great buy

Watching the Rays-Phils game now and love how Marsh consistently looks like he sleeps in a damp cave on the dirt.

…I’m gonna tell you something: I don’t hate Marsh. I own zero Marsh cards, but I think his ceiling is very similar to Bohm’s ceiling: 10+ year career and a spot on then Phillies team HOF. Which is nothing to sneeze at. Marsh hustles.

I'm much higher on Marsh than Bohm... but I do agree it looks like he's found a home and does fit what the Philly fans like, a real grinder. I still think he has the underlying tools to pull several really nice peak years.

He's currently sitting at a 120 wrc+, well above average. He's upped his ISO 40+ points this year, and his BB% is up 4.8 pts... These are the type of improvements you like to see as a guy heads toward his peak years. He also consistently hits with a high BABIP because he's such a good line-drive hitter, I think that part of his game may stick for his career or at least as long as he maintains his speed.

And right after I type that up he makes a real web gem in the Trop... which you don't see often from visiting players. Especially not on fly balls.

Nice! No such thing as a bad gold refractor.

As hyped as he was, Jeremy Pena sure is falling off a cliff.

I remember seeing his prices in Spring training and laughing, because in my eyes he was never that good.

He had a .289 OBP last year. Not sure I'd say he fell off a cliff as much as people thought his 58 playoff ABs was who he was and not the 520 regular season ABs.

He was insanely hyped after that postseason run, spring training his stuff was insanely high to where his on field production was.

I don't have the information, but I remember looking at prices and they were way high. $500+ for a base PSA 10 of 2020 Bowman Chrome, refractors more, approaching $1k etc.

I didn't see much for a 25 year old who struggled to get on base/hit for average.

Just another reason why the focus on 'rings' and post-season TEAM success is way overrated in baseball.

The only hobbyists that actually care about that in relation to cards, are the people who own cards of those that had the post-season success. Otherwise, a great individual season, is still a great season.

Watched him play a week or so ago and he looks much better than he used to. It's possible he's figuring it out, yeah.

Really nice under the radar season for Lane Thomas. 3-3 w a couple runs, an rbi and 4 steals so far today.
Seems like he’d be a nice cheap addition for a contender needing a spark in the OF.
I’ve slowly moved all his rare 19 update parallels, mostly to the psycho Billzcards in MO. That guy has hoarded all of them since release it seems.

B Marsh - Solid slap hitter.
J. Peña - Has pop in his bat with runners on base. Tries to hard to hit home runs when nobody’s on base. .800 OPS runner on base .650 OPS when nobody is on.

Bellinger is no surprise but his Batting Average climbing to .320 instead of roughly .270-.280 within the Cubs lineup? 68 games played, 31 games missed. Oddly, if he were to have played in 28 of those games, MLB may have had two 28 year old players vying to win their 2nd MVP from each League.

4 Dodgers crushing the ball with roughly 22-27 HR’s & 63-73 RBI’s. I would have said that is Farfegnugen.

After the Rays incredible start, having to look at Baltimore in first place midway through July. Randy A has to stay healthy.

Burger keeps mashing. Both he and Bell have hit well since being traded to Miami.

Too bad it hasn’t equated to more winning.

Default The 2023 MLB Regular Season Daily Thread

They need to start developing their own. Inexcusable that the club is going nowhere and the no.1s get traded; Watson, Bleday etc while the big club fails to produce Ws. Meanwhile they remain light years behind the Braves across the diamond and 1-9.
Is there a single positional player on the Marlins you’d take over their Brave counterpart?

Ronny Mauricio also hitting very well in his first taste. 2-2 so far today and that 117.3mph double in his debut.

I think they are - I don't fault them for trading Bleday - he was not a sure bet to hit. Kinda same with Watson. They're holding onto their pitching and Meyer should be ready shortly - it's really their young arms that will carry them to sustained relevance, and they've done well with acquiring veteran bats.
