Default I hit a massive ‘23 chrome card and am now in over my head

So as the title states, I hit IMO, a monster. I’m really looking at some ideas on my next steps though. Is this auction house material? Stick to eBay? In person? Believe it or not this was a preorder jumbo that didn’t make its way to my house until yesterday and now all I can think about is how I was a week late and a 5 hour drive away from having THE Chicago cubs chase card in my hands in that very city at the National.

It might help if we knew what the card was.

1st off congrats.

2nd - if you arent familiar with selling high end cards then yes, I would send to an auction house. They can grade, list, sell, and ship the card for you.

Others can chime in here on which auction house but the only risk you have at this point is getting the card from point A to point B.

I use FedEx for all my card shipments.

Enjoy the cash!

I would personally recommend USPS Registered Mail over FedEx. But that's me.

Personally, if I was looking for this card, I wouldn't care if it graded as it is truly unique just by existing. There are people out there that think the opposite and believe it should be slabbed to make it 'official' and then auctioned, which is also okay.

HOWEVER, I would request hi-res scans of all the corners, the back, etc. So be prepared to provide any additional info.

This is 100% the kind of feedback I’m after. I feel like I’m holding onto arguably one of the top 10-20 cards for the release but if I was in need of a reality check I’d accept it as well.

I’m a UPS a guy as well. FedEx has unfortunately been a problem for me in the last. Although everyone obviously has different experiences.

I don’t think you are. He’s a popular rookie position player doing well in a top 3 market. Throw in that the Cubs are now making a serious push for the playoffs.

I'm a Cubs fan and am really hoping this kid keeps doing what he has been doing. Great energy and seems like he would be fun to be around in the clubhouse. That being said, the last week or two I'm seeing some "Javy" in him. Some pretty wild swings... like he is trying to hit everything 450 feet and lots of stuff way out of the zone. I'm really hoping he can get that back in line. He's a great fit with this team.

If you have a decent amount of feedback on Ebay, just toss it up there with a big BIN and see what happens. If you don't care much about the card... 10 day auction starting at .99 and have fun watching it. That card will sell itself.
Don't bother with the grading, let someone else foot that bill if they want it slabbed. That's just two more times thru the mail or UPS and two more risks of something happening to it.

Great card and good luck!

Sell it on eBay through a consignor. Not a big enough card to sell elsewhere. I’d guess something like $5-7.5k.

Sell it on your own

I don't have faith in any of these big auction houses that they can get more for the item. They will simply take more fees the more valuable the item is.

And as stated, that's not a 5 figure card, so no point

Why a consignor and not just sell it yourself? I don't understand why people want to pay someone else to sell single cards for them. I get if you send a bunch of lower $$ stuff to someone like GM because it's a lot of work to list and ship but 1 card that, we'll go with your guestimate of $5-7k, it makes no sense.
